Years

Years

Years have you journeyed in search of a spark

Stumbled and bloodied feeling your way in the dark

Chance upon pleasure for once unaccompanied by pain

Not something to toss and forget cause it may not be back again

Cry on your pillow as you deliberate crushing your dreams

Don’t settle for teardrops and soothe them by posting memes

Something inside you is telling you this worth putting up a fight

Grab hold don’t think twice climb on my chest stay the night

Years have I waited biding my time and trying to guard my loving flame

Love that burns in my heart ever ready to roar yet always remains the same

Ready to go out as easily as it could be turned into a furnace of passion

If there was anything to gain from my efforts I’d be tempted to cash in

But since the day the soda dropped onto my restaurant table

Could be a million dollars in for me but I still wouldn’t be able

Feeling like even with the troubles that found their way to mess up our plan

Even the slimmest chance I couldn’t resist cause the thought makes me a happy man

Years have we wondered, is happiness even aware where I live

Everyone wants to take but I don’t know if I want to give

Then you locked eyes with me and held me tight in your arms

Head over heels so enamored with your exquisite charms

Years have we hoped for something like this to exist

So many failures, far too damn many to list

Years would we regret not giving it a try

Years we will cherish together watching years go by
