Note: Due to an error with the archiving on our end at the station, this week's show was not archived and the recording is lost, which is a shame because I thought this week's show went quite well. In summary, new artists and tunes were played, also I'm in the UK next week and so the shows will be prerecorded for some time. Fair warning there is some chatter and discussion this week! As I headed off to see The The in Montreal, I, with the help of some guests, brought you a show reflecting on larger musical culture. Madison joined me as we paid tribute to One Direction's Liam Payne in the wake of his tragic early passing, and discussed celebrity culture and the pressures in the music industry and public eye. Adam joined me as a guest to revive an old and much loved feature, Meet Me In The Mic Room, our favourite little look back at the 00s indie scene, and we discussed the face of UK indie sleaze: The Libertines, with only a healthy dose of chat about 00s music, fashion, magazines and culture, and what the Libertines meant to it all. ALT BLK ERA are a rising heavy rock sibling duo from Nottingham, made up of sisters Nyrobi and Chaya. In just a few short years, the band have been making a name for themselves as a young, genre-defying band making music that fans from all backgrounds have found has changed their lives.

In the lead up to their debut album ‘Rave Immortal’ that comes out in January, we talked about their genre-blending music, breakout singles, playing Reading and Leeds festival, headlining the BBC Introducing Stage, having Wheatus as fans (!) and how their music is connecting with thousands of fans across the age divide. We have their brand-new single for you tonight, Come On Outside!

The Faroe Islands' 'second-ever punk band' Joe & the Shitboys have been making a major racquet for a band whose average song runs for 40 seconds. The four-piece, who describe themselves as 'bisexual vegan shitpunks' and go onstage by the last names 'Shit', have a lot to say in their music, and their no-holds-barred approach to punk has earned them firm fans across the globe: they have opened for the Hives, been firm favourites on BBC Radio 6 Music via their biggest fan, Iggy Pop, and they are back with their third album, THE RESON FOR HARDCORE VIBES III! Tune in to hear the lore behind the album's name and iconic imagery, as well as everything else about the band and album. This week, a marathon show for the ages! The Weave (CFRC, Sundays 9:30 PM) and I combined our 1.5 hours to put together a 3 hour-long retrospective on 2004: the height of garage rock revival and indie music, a new age of hip hop, some pop music, stuff that's aged well and others that, erm, hasn't, and of course, music from Kingston. We were also joined by former CFRC host and Toronto DJ, DJ LK!
