This week's show is a listening party to mark 20 years of an astounding piece of art in the British music canon of the 21st century: Muse's 3rd studio album Absolution (2003). An album with an expansive and career-defining sound that launched Muse worldwide as a force to be reckoned with in rock music in the modern age, even while the album itself is hard to cage into a single genre: classical orchestral strings, Rachmaninoff-esque Romantic pianos, existential themes and the heaviest basses you've ever heard meld together into a fine work of art on one of Muse's finest albums. Grab your copy of the album and join my guest Vita and I as we redefine our experience of music. You won't want to miss this one.
This week on the Yellow Brit Road, we had strong comebacks from experienced artists, we talked about new trends in music: Billboard's brand-new TikTok singles chart, and had a lovely interview with The Wytches, whose album Our Guest Can't Be Named comes out 22 September! Music this week by:

This week was fun and happening! We had new releases out of the UK and Ireland, Hayden, a friend and new volunteer at our station CFRC dropped by to discuss the Mercury Prize and and cool live shows we've seen in Kingston, and I got to speak with Charlie, guitarist in the exciting new pan-European band taking their homebase of London, the UK, and Europe by storm: The Gulps! We heard about their rock n roll origins, their firebrand glam punk, about meeting The Libertines, being managed by Alan McGee and about being rockstars. It's not an interview to miss! This week on Yellow Brit Road, we had amazing brand-new submissions, new releases from your favourite acts, and a review of the gig that capped off my summer: Sheffield alt rock giants Arctic Monkeys supported by rising, articulate Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. We also had one of indie rock's biggest stars as the subject of our Mic Room chat this week: Snow Patrol, and their album Final Straw, which turned 20 last month. Music this week was by

This week marks the 50-year anniversary of the birth of hip-hop, far away in Bronx in NY, USA. It has since grown in legitimacy to become one of the most popular genres of music around the world. So what's happening right now in the UK and Ireland? We dove into the modern UK and Irish hip hop scenes, looking at some of the unique subgenres hip hop has spawned through collaborations and shared influences, from grime, UK drill, neo-jazz drawing from jazz and RnB particularly in London, grime-punk, etc. We also looked at Welsh and Irish hip hop. This week we were on air for two hours, and had brand new releases, talked about the 2023 Mercury Prize shortlist that was released earlier in the week, and had an in-depth interview with Belfast post punk band Enola Gay, whose brand of unapologetic political post punk caught the world's attention in 2020. They are coming to North America (Toronto - 17 Sept at the Drake Underground) this fall, and told me all about it. Music this week by
