It's the 3rd Friday in April and just like it has every year, Yellowstone Park is open for business! Or is it???? 

Starting today, you can drive from Mammoth or West Yellowstone to the Canyon area and over to Old Faithful. BUT!!!!

The park has seen it's third highest snow totals in 100 years and the highest totals since all records were set in 1996 when the park had an unbelievable 29.5 feet of snow. 

As Yellowstone opened today, the ground in the park is still covered by 6-8' of snow at the West Entrance and up to 12' of snow in the Canyon Area and the high temp for opening day is supposed to be 29 degrees with a low of 7. If you see Old Faithful go off, all your going to see is steam and everything in the Canyon area is closed as is every trail in the park and Grand Teton is the same way.

Follow the tips in the Planning Your Yellowstone Vacation Chapter in the guidebook and don't waste your Time and Money by coming to the park too early and freezing your ass off and not seeing anything.
