Yep, What a Concept episodes

  • We Don't Have Each Other

"I won't let go, even if you say so"

This week, Evan torments* Alex with the debut solo album by The Wonder Years' Dan Campbell (in-character under the moniker of Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties) We Don't Have Each Other. Dan eschews his trademark pop-punk sound for a more folk-rock/roots aesthetic, whilst delivering a linear narrative primarily dealing with the aftermath of the divorce of a couple. The tracks also explore themes of isolation, guilt, despair, indecision, addiction and grief.

    Post-Gap: Dad Rock Draft

    "It's just not my year"

This week, Alex shows Evan Ethel Cain's debut southern gothic studio album Preacher's Daughter. Join us as we discuss the album's haunting, macabre sound, intense lyricism and disturbing narrative as well as the moments of triumph, despair and absolution.

Alex and Evan go track-by-track over Queens of the Stone Age's iconic seminal album, their stoner rock roots/early sound, and the varied talented collaborators who brought this explosive album to life. (Word of the day: eerie)

    Post-Gap: The Grammies Rant.

  • Episode Zero: Introductions (Hi & Bye)

"What is this?" "Who are you?" These burning questions are answered in this special Pre-Gap episode as Alex and Evan break down their history, their music tastes and the inspiration behind the podcast.
