Jazz fans have known Jeffery B. Suttles as an accomplished drummer who entered the industry under the watchful eye of the late great Leon ‘Ndugu’ Chancler. Leaving his college football days behind, he traded the gridiron for music. While touring with Chancler, Suttles caught the attention of another legend, Bill Withers.

But Eddie Murphy fans know him as the bandleader and drummer of Sexual Chocolate from “Coming to America,” the 1988 comedy.

He’s played with some of the world’s most popular musical figures, including En Vogue, Quincy Jones, Sheena Easton, Teena Marie. Considered a force on the jazz circuit, Suttles showcases his range and smooth arrangements through 10 mellow tracks on his 2005 album “Time to Suttledown."

Davide Burks, is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and a graduate of Prairie View A&M University, He started playing saxophone at age nine, studying under James “Dub” Hudson. Davide’s first professional gig was in 1979 with Sonny Stitt at the Atlanta Jazz Festival. He has graced the stage with such artists as Dianne Reeves, Freddy Cole, Russell Malone, and Tommy Stewart . He states he was blessed to have the great Sil Austin take me under his wings and the rest is history.

LAWRENCE JENNINGS has been teaching music for over 24 years, he received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Jackson State University and his Masters of Science at Troy University. A native of Jackson, MS, he comes from a musical family, where he started playing professionally at the age of fourteen. In the eighties he served as a session drummer for Malaco Records, playing with the likes of Johnny Taylor, Dorthy Moore and ZZ Hill. He has taught at the elementary, middle, high school and college level. He is an active professional percussionist /drummer/clinician/adjudicator and speaker in the Atlanta music community. He is an avid jazz lover and listener. He has toured North America, Europe and the Caribbean playing with various artists. His credits include Sam Myers, Cassandra Wilson, Keisa Brown, the Drifters, Back Street Boys and Bobby Vinton. His orchestral credits include the Atlanta AfricanAmerican Philharmonic Orchestra, the Atlanta Orchestra and the Kingswood Orchestra. He is a member of jazz, blues societies and associations including International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Music Educators National Conference (MENC) Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) and the National Educators Association.
