Vicki shares with us how she runs her business, what tools and tricks she uses in order to make things work as well as how she has grown her confidence through the power of…tune in to find out!

    --------

What's the best career advice you have ever received?

The one that stands out is "There is no such word as can't" by Jules White (Dragon Slayer & a previous guest on the Yes to Entrepreneurship podcast) Live it Love it Sell it

What is your proudest career accomplishment and why?

I have gained so much confidence over the past 18 months or so, I have won several twitter awards (Queen of Resin Pendants/ Creative Biz Award which resulted in a radio interview and a social media award. I was also interviewed by you way back when I was nervous and shy and have done a podcast since). I go live several times a week doing the News over at Heartizan and have been asked to take the lead on being a podcast interviewer for our creatives. Who would have believed it! Yes, I am a little scared, but love a challenge!

What has been the hardest career moment and how did you overcome it?

Every day is hard, being a single mum, working a 9 - 5.

  • YTE 034: Make money with Renee Hribar

In this episode, Renee provides insight on how we should be thinking about sales, who we really should be selling to, and what one really needs in order to start selling – the answer might surprise you!

    --------

What's the best career advice you have ever received?

Rosario Sinicrope said “your success will be in direct proportion to your ability to fail fast and shake it off”

What is your proudest career accomplishment and why?

When women can find their own confidence to sell for themselves and truly step into their money-making power, they fund the best education for the children, the best elder care for their parents, they donate to their charities and forever know they have options... they are never forced into decisions due to lack of money again.

What has been the hardest career moment and how did you overcome it?

Choosing to sell my sales agency. I overcame it by spending a year sabbatical and becoming a yoga teacher

  • YTE 033: Realizing you have the potential with Sarah Wallace

In this episode, we talked about realizing your potential is everything for your personal growth! It’s through that personal growth where you start brainstorming new ideas and realize you can start a business online. Sarah talks about her first product which came from being a mom and seeing a need in the market. We also talk about selling on social media, specifically Instagram, and how people are watching you – in a not so creepy way, ha!

What's the best career advice you have ever received?

Clarity comes from action. No amount of thinking about will give you the answer. You have to go out, try it and either learn a lesson or keep going because you figured something out.

What is your proudest career accomplishment and why?

Not having a website for the longest time, but having people reach out to me about what I was doing and how I could help them, by simply showing up on social media consistently. I then had a client of my own do the same thing and landed her first client, so that felt awesome to just be reaffirmed, ok this works, you don't need to spend thousands of dollars or cold call a list to start an online business.

What has been the hardest career moment and how did you overcome it?

Deciding to leave a 6-figure job as a single mom and go out on my own with uncertainty, inconsistent income, and impostor syndrome. I finally got to the point where the fear of missing out on my potential become bigger than the fear of missing out on the stability.

  • YTE 032: Live it. Love it. Sell it with Jules White

In this episode, we talk about how one product, specifically a book that wasn’t even part of the original plan, can take your business to the next level – from one on one consulting to speaking to working with larger companies building out a sales road map that works. Join us for this “sales road trip” with Jules.

What's the best career advice you have ever received? Apart from my Dad’s advice - ‘There’s no such word as can’t!’ My old boss from Yellow Pages used to say that every time someone said no to me in sales, I could put £1 in my pocket. Then when I got a yes I would have gathered a pocket full of £1’s towards it and I also learned to not take the no’s personally!

What is your proudest career accomplishment and why? Gosh - lots really. There have been some awards I’ve won that I am very proud of - but I think my proudest moment was when my son commented on my TEDx video on YouTube telling me how proud he was of me that was a real moment as he didn’t tell me he had done it!

What has been the hardest career moment and how did you overcome it? I lost my business - Truly Madly Baby and lost everything at the same time. I had a choice of going in the corner and crying or getting back up and starting again. I chose the latter - and I am so glad I did.

  • YTE 031: Yes you can do it with Rhonda Lowe

In this episode, we talked about how Rhonda started her entrepreneurial journey by converting her garage into a roller-skating rink at the age of 10 years old while the rest of us just had a lemonade stand. Get business insights and learn why entrepreneurship can be life-changing for kids. Also, find out what Heinz Ketchup has to do with business and how it sank the competition.

    --------

What's the best career advice you have ever received?

My dad always told me that if you want to see it happen then get started on it.

What is your proudest career accomplishment and why?

Probably my last business- a full-scale party store. It was my biggest dream in both size and service. We did what "the big boys" did in our small town and I loved every minute of it.

What has been the hardest career moment and how did you overcome it?

I had spent 16 years in the newspaper business where I was able to utilize all of my entrepreneurial skills to build the paper up to be a shining star in our newspaper group and be promoted to Publisher because of it.. which I spent the last six years of my career there doing. There came a point when things began changing, both internally and externally, and I knew it was time to move on while I still loved what I was doing. Turning in my resignation was the hardest thing but it ended up opening me up to new possibilities and my party store was the result of that.

What is your proudest career accomplishment and why?

Every time I get a referral! It proves that I doing what I’m supposed to be doing and that people believe that I can help them. It’s always exciting to know that people are talking about me as the go-to course creator!

What has been the hardest career moment and how did you overcome it?

Not climbing the corporate ladder. I always thought I would be the CLO of a Fortune 500. That was my goal but with that, comes more responsibility on the job and it didn’t work with my parenting philosophy so I just created the company I want to work for that has a better life-work balance.

  • YTE 028: From startup days with Apple to accounting with Elizabeth Holmes

In this episode, our guest Elizabeth talks about her entrepreneurial journey – from working with Steve Jobs in his garage to becoming a computer accounting system specialist working with 100's of small business owners.

We talk about the early days of Apple, what success looks like, how business owners have to pivot, set benchmarks, look back and reflect, how to get those referrals, and so much more! We even uncover the hidden meaning behind the movie Toy Story.

"Steve always recognized opportunities" - Elizabeth Holmes

"Business is the best kept secret, it's so much fun!" - Steve Jobs

    --------

What's the best career advice you have ever received?

"You have to change the underlying structure of your life to make real and lasting change." - Robert Fritz, The Path of Least Resistance

"Identify your ideal client and don't settle for less." - Gail Ginder, Claros Group

What is your proudest career accomplishment and why?

I don't know how to answer this question! I'm grateful that hundreds of local businesses that have trusted my skill and discretion for over 35 years. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to be photo editor on a book about the history of Healdsburg. I enjoyed serving on the executive board of directors of World-Voices Organization, an advocacy group for voice actors. I'm proud to have some of my billiard photos in the Library of Congress. I'm fortunate to have been part of the founding of Apple Computer.

What has been the hardest career moment and how did you overcome it?

My hardest career moment was giving up on being a CPA. I felt like a complete and utter failure for years. It took me a l-o-n-g time to realize that creating a unique niche and filling it served an important need and allowed me to avoid corporate America, which was a terrible fit for me. In the early days of personal computers, accounting software was not as easy to use as it is today. I was comfortable with accounting concepts and personal computers, so I was able to help entrepreneurs focus on what they did best, and delegate administrative tasks to me.

  • YTE 027: The secret to surviving 2 years in business and counting with Erin Ashby

In this episode, Erin shares with us her milestone, celebrating 2 years and counting, with her business Suade Marketing. Learn what motivated this mom of 4 to start her own business and what her key to survival has been.

    --------

What's the best career advice you have ever received?

Don’t spend money like it’s your own. My ex-boss, Chad Peevy. He recognized I had a negative money mind and it got in the way of my confidence to sell.

What is your proudest career accomplishment and why?

Making it two whole years. I’ve had a million reasons to give up and I haven’t.

What has been the hardest career moment and how did you overcome it?

Owning my value. Asking for a raise when it was the right thing. That was harder than being told no or even telling a lead no. I had to stop feeling and acting like any of it was personal. Put on that CEO hat and have a tough conversation, which actually ended up being a cakewalk.
