Welcome to the Daily Daf Differently. In this episode, Esther Israel looks at Masechet Yevamot, Daf 104.
The Halitsah ceremony involves three main components:
The removal of the man’s shoe, her spitting, and her recitation of her line “thus shall be done to the man who will not build up a line/ house for his brother!”.
The Mishna on daf 104 checks if all of these three are necessary conditions for the halitsah to be valid and binding; the g’mara draws further practical implications from here.
The opening and closing music for this podcast is Ufros from The Epichorus album One Bead.
This podcast is a collaboration with The Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem.
