Home invasion films have always been a staple in the horror genre, so this week the ladies dive into some of their favorite home invasion films. First, Rachel discusses the classic film, Wait Until Dark(1967)starring Audrey Hepburn; Maranda continues on with the well known French film High Tension (2003), and Nikki ends the conversation with one of the most popular home invasion films, The Strangers (2008). Conversation centers around what works and what doesn't work in these types of films alongside a brief look into the psyche of the tormented.

Today we’re talking about two horror films that have a lot in common; Ginger Snaps and Jennifer’s Body. The conversation abounds with boxy practical effect werewolves, intense high school friendships, and theories on links between lycanthropy, demons, and the female body.

This week the ladies tackle terrifying legends from the grave. Rachel starts off with Resurrection Mary, a well known legend from the Chicago suburbs. Maranda discusses another black angel legend from Iowa City, Iowa, and Nikki finishes the episode with the legend of real world vampire hunters.

This week the ladies tackle one of the most controversial subjects in horror: the inclusion of mental illness. Rachel opens up the episode by discussing The Babadook and its powerful commentary on grief. Next, Maranda talks about the recent film, Split, which received both hate and praise. Nikki ends the episode with a discussion of The Taking of Deborah Logan and how the film approached Alzheimers.

In our first MiniScares episode, special guest Jake shares his terrifying tale of ghosts (or not?) in a small town called Vishnu Springs. Rachel also shares her own personal ghost story from her childhood. You may want to keep the lights on tonight after listening to these tales of the dead.
