Darlene shares the origins of Mother’s Day, did you know that there was a Christian festival called, Mothering Sunday? Mother’s Day means many things to different people. Darlene speaks to her love of Mother Nature and that she does her conscious part to look after her. Darlene also shares that she herself is a Mother of All coming from a place and space of nurturing and giving unconditional love to others.
Piper boldly claims that it is an Honor to BE a Mother! Piper too equates Motherhood with nurturing and being the Most Precious Walk of Life! It is an Honor to Be her daughter’s mother. Motherhood gave her the grounding and anchor and Piper recognized being a Mother as the Greatest Responsibility. Motherhood stretches you to the depths of strength, patience, frustration and all the gorgeous other emotions you have the capacity to hold. Piper states that she was gifted the experience of being a Mother to have the ability to feel on such levels that no other experience could have gifted her. Now that she is a Grandmother, she has the grander wisdom than being a mother could have given her.
Belinda never felt that she ever was doing enough as a perfect “Super Woman” Mom. Belinda shares her Super Woman story because “back in the day”, being a career woman and a mother was still a new way of being. Now as a grandmother her attitude when things happen is, “relax, it going to be alright.” Raised by a selfless, loving mother has created who Belinda is. Belinda has a greater respect for her giving and selfless mother not that she has passed on and wishes that she could just pick up the phone and tell her so.
Kate starts us off with her story of her great great grandmother Miller. She thought her great great grandmother Miller had the most beautiful voice in the world and laughs later about how she was told that she was tone deaf. Kate knows that she was raised by strong women and has that foundation. Kate knew that her mom was different and lived a lot of her life through Kate. Kate looked after her mom until she transitioned. The last moments of her mom’s life are so precious to her. Kate shifts to sharing about her work as a juvenile counselor and that some of the nicest compliments she received were from the kids she worked with. They would say, “we don’t have a mom but we have Kate!” Kate knows that she did her best as a young mom, and may have not done a lot of things right for her kids, however the one thing her kids knew with certainty was she overflowed with love for her children. There was always an abundance of Love!
