By picking the techniques you incorporate in your practice it can work to foster balance or to push you farther away from balance...toward dis-ease.
Learning how to balance your elements is a basic foundation for self care and self regulation, so you feel your best more of the time :)

or click: https://www.lauragyoga.com/offerings/the-5-elements-of-life-meditation-series
This Meditation Series will help you to better understand the 5 Elements of Life (Tattvas) and how they contribute to your health.
In the healing system of Ayurveda (The Science of Life) all things are made up of 5 Elements.
The physical world, our bodies, our personalities and experiences all relate back to the 5 Elements of life. Our health, happiness and success rely on the proper balance of these elements.
Earth - Water - Fire - Air - Ether
Your own expression of these Elements is unique like your finger print. This is why "one size fits all" health advice seldom works. What may bring one person into balance, could throw another out of balance. Learning about the elements in YOUR life & within YOURSELF can give great insight into maintaining balance & wellness throughout your life.
Understanding the Elements creates a solid foundation to study Ayurveda and learn about your Dosha (Mind Body Composition based on the elements). Think of this course as the foundation for a deeper study of Ayurveda, self care & yoga as therapy.
This course will have 6 Zoom sessions: 1 hour each: 7pm EST
You can attend Live or view a Recording which will be provided after each session
Mon May 1st: Earth Element
Thurs May 4th: Water Element
Mon May 8th: Fire Element
Thurs May 11th: Air Element
Mon May 15th: Ether Element
Thurs May 18th: All the Elements & an Introduction to Ayurveda & the Doshas
Class Structure:
Each Session will include a talk about the Element's qualities & characteristics
Breathwork to settle the mind & connect to the Element
Guided contemplation to gain insight on the element in your life, your personality & your health
A Meditation to deepen your awareness & connection to the element
A bit of homework to take with you off your meditation cushion & into your life
You will be amazed how an awareness of the elements changes the way you relate to yourself & the world around you!
See you in the Zoom RoOm!

The final Episode of "Deep Dive Into Yoga" I talk about the Light & Shadow (good and bad) that I have experienced in my 2 Decades of Yoga Practice. There were several times over the past 20 years I nearly quit the practice...thankfully I was able to gain new perspective and my relationship with my practice & the landscape of yoga as a whole matured. Now I take the stance that Yoga is NOT perfect...But that is OK...I Love it anyway!
With that being said- we need to take a hard stance against unacceptable behavior in the yoga community. There have been far too many teachers/gurus that have perpetuated abuse under the pretense of teaching yoga. We need to be aware of this & prevent it from occurring ring in the future.
It is important for NEW yoga practitioners and teachers to understand that not everything that is conveyed or practiced in yoga circles is healthy- you need to keep your eyes open and your powers of discernment sharp. Decide what you want in your practice & what does not serve you (right now). YOU retain your personal agency & decision making skills.
I hope that the struggles and realizations I have experienced will be useful to you. I recognize that these topics are controversial & not everyone will agree or have the same experience - and that is OK. It is important to bring light to these areas & let people decide for themselves :)
This is the introduction to a much longer text ("Light & Shadow in Yoga") & discussion that I am currently putting together (who knew I had so many topics to talk about under this concept!)
