The natural end of a desire to esteem yourself is suicide. That's a hefty statement, but we spend a lot of time this week trying to think through a natural desire that is in all of us--self-obsession. The world tells us that we need to see the beauty in ourselves, we just need to "think positive", and that we need to think better of ourselves. The Bible says our value is not self-actuating, but that God is the source. So how do we Biblically avoid the pitfalls of self-esteem, self-loathing, and self-obsession?
