This meditation guides you into a safe, inner sanctuary where you can meet the part of yourself you tend to push aside—the prickly one, the overwhelmed one, the version of you that’s hardest to hold with compassion. Through gentle imagery and intentional breathwork, you’ll begin a meaningful dialogue with this aspect of your psyche, uncovering what it truly needs beneath the resistance.

Rather than “fixing” or suppressing this part of you, the practice helps you soften toward it—listening, witnessing, and opening space for transformation. Expect surprising insights, emotional relief, and a renewed sense of inner unity. This is where self-compassion shifts from concept to lived experience.

Before you begin

  • Prepare your space and ensure you will not be disturbed.
  • Wear comfortable clothing.
  • Use an eye cover, if preferred.
  • Have a notebook/journal and pen ready.
  • Optional: Prepare a question for your journey. It could be anything you’re grappling with at the moment.
    • Note: It’s best not to ask a “When” question; in Non-ordinary Reality there is no “time” as we understand it.
    • Write your question in your notebook or journal.

After the meditation

  • Sit up slowly. Take a moment to return to Ordinary Reality.
  • Write whatever you remember from your journey into your notebook/journal. Use all the senses!
  • Consider how you might incorporate the offerings you received from the journey into your life, starting today.
