  • The Midlife Entrepreneur: Turning Crisis into Opportunity

This year I turned the big 40.

    No big deal.

    Or so I thought.

But after the birthday celebrations ended I felt off.

    Really off.

    Like something was wrong.

    Or missing.

    But what?

I created all those things my younger adult self wanted…the career, the house, the relationship, the money, the travel.

Enter midlife crisis. Or as I like to call it midlife re-evaluation.

Many people go through some variation of a 'midlife crisis' usually between the ages of 35-65. The timing is different for each of us and it may be associated with a major life event such as having children, children leaving the nest, a change in relationship, a change in career, a move, the death of a loved one, etc.

For me, this restlessness started in the past two years, but hit really hard this year.

It felt like I was being forced to re-evaluate my life and take note of how I was showing up and what was working and what wasn’t working so well…yes, this means in my relationships, health and career/purpose/fulfillment.

It felt like a call to take full responsibility for the results (or lack of results) I create in all areas of my life and to be VERY intentional about what I focus on and how I spend my time and energy in the second half of my life...and a huge nudge to leave behind any 'self-sabotaging' behavior that was stopping me from being my best self and creating my best life.

In this week’s podcast, I share more about my experiences navigating my ‘midlife crisis’ and the realizations I’ve had. I also share how we can use this experience to help us build a purposeful and fulfilling business that leaves the world a better place…and do it in a way that feels aligned...this is so important!

  • Conquer Overthinking: Take Action for Your Coaching Business

Do you find yourself overthinking EVERYTHING? Especially when it comes to your business?

You desperately want to move forward, but feel stuck.

    Stuck in…
    Analysis paralysis
    Perfection
    Procrastination

You want to make sure you make the right decisions and do the right things so you think about it…over and over and over again.

    Is your head exploding yet?

Because mine is just from thinking about overthinking.

The truth is that overthinking is a huge waste of precious time and energy.

    And it doesn’t serve you.

In fact, it keeps you from taking action.

And yes, action is a REQUIREMENT for moving forward and getting results in our business, and in all areas of our lives.

    So just stop overthinking, OK?!

If only it were that easy…

It’s not easy to stop overthinking because it's a habit and it serves a purpose…which I will share more about in this week’s video. But it is 100% possible to stop overthinking and start taking action and I’ll share how in this video.

  • The #1 Messaging Mistake Coaches Must Avoid

Understanding how to develop a powerful message is the foundation for building a successful coaching business.

Without this in place, you can spend months and yes, even years, marketing your business while signing very few or maybe even no clients…eek!

This leaves you feeling energetically drained and completely frustrated…and likely like you want to quit.

The good news is that when you know how to create compelling messaging, the right people will connect with you and want to work with you…with an effective marketing plan in place ;) Wish people would magically find us all, but that’s not how the world works.

So how do you avoid the #1 messaging mistake that I see coaches making?

That’s what you’ll learn in this week’s podcast.

  • Venturing outside your comfort zone: the key to entrepreneurial success

How willing are you to venture out of your comfort zone?

Are you willing to make mistakes?

Are you willing to allow other people to see you not appearing perfect?

Are you willing to take action before you know exactly how everything is going to work out?

Are you willing to make a video even though if feels VERY uncomfortable and you don’t really know what you’re doing?

When it comes to building a business, your willingness to break out of your ‘comfort zone’ is directly related to the success of your business.

    Why?

Because most of the things you’re doing are new to you.

Which means they will feel uncomfortable.

    AND

Putting yourself out there WILL feel vulnerable.

This is why building a business is so challenging.

It is also why building a business is one of the best pathways for personal growth.

*Note, there is a difference between ‘good’ discomfort that you feel when you’re stretching outside your comfort zone (this is what we want) vs. ‘bad’ discomfort we feel when we’re doing things that feel ‘icky’ or out of alignment for you (this is highly individualized)*

But in order to start stepping out of our comfort zone on the regular, which, yes, you need to do when you build a business, you need to create the capacity in your nervous system to do so.

If you don’t, you burn out or freak out ;) and quit.

We don’t want that! We want long term sustainable success.

So how do you expand your capacity for discomfort?

That’s exactly what I’m sharing with you in this week’s podcast.

Find out more about how we can work together to build your business HERE.

  • How Perfection is Stopping you From Getting Clients and Building your Business

Do you consider yourself a perfectionist?

If so, it’s important to consider how your ‘perfecting’ will impact your business.

In fact, when left unchecked, your quest for perfection can stop you from ever getting clients and getting your business off the ground.

The good news is that being a ‘perfectionist’ is not an innate personality trait. It is a learned behavior and this means that it can be changed.

And yes, you must leave perfection behind if you want to create a successful and purposeful business.

In this week’s podcast, I help you understand why you strive for perfection. I also shed light on the true impact that being a ‘perfectionist’ has on your business and life. Then, I share the steps you can take to stop perfecting, and instead start taking aligned action towards creating the results you want.

  • The Unique Challenges Introverts Face When Building a Coaching Business

Introverts face some unique challenges when it comes to building a coaching business (and really in many areas of our lives ;).

I had no idea just how much being an introvert impacted my confidence and my view of myself until I started my business.

I always thought that being an introvert wasn’t that big of a deal.

Introverts make up an estimated 30-50% of the population so it’s not exactly like we are a huge minority.

But the truth is that we live in an extroverted world.

And many of the characteristics we are led to believe make us likable, successful, popular and happy are often associated with more extroverted qualities.

This can leave us introverts feeling inferior and like we have to change ourselves to achieve what we want in life.

On top of this, we are often taught how to do things (ah hmm…growing our businesses) in ways that works well for extroverts, but leave us feeling energetically and emotionally drained.

This will eventually lead to burnout. And yes, I’m speaking for experience.

When it comes to building a successful business, it is important that we understand the unique challenges that we face as introverts. When we truly understand this, then we can choose marketing and business systems that work for our introverted nature.

That is exactly what I’m sharing with you in this week’s video and podcast.

Do you want support with building your confidence as a coach AND building your coaching business in a way that feels heart centered and authentic and does NOT require you to waste precious time and energy on social media (yes, that means in a way that works for introverts)? If so, you can book a free business breakthrough session with me HERE.

  • The Most Powerful Coaching Tool

This year I turned the big 40.

    It’s been an interesting year.

Perhaps it’s because I’m now ‘midlife’.

    Haha.

But really, there has been a shift for me in the past few years leading up to this year.

And then this year, it really hit me.

This weird feeling that something was missing. Something was a bit ‘off’.

    But what?

I have a fantastic relationship, good friends, an amazing family, a beautiful home in the mountains, enough money to do and buy what I want, I get to travel, I have a successful business that allows me to do purposeful work (and provides a ton of freedom and flexibility)…..

    Hmmmm….

I have all the things that I really wanted so why do I feel this way?

    So I started exploring why.

And what I have discovered has been incredibly insightful and has led me to developing my own powerful coaching tool.

A tool that I’m teaching all my clients.

And that tool is what I’m sharing with you in this week’s podcast.

  • Transform Your Money Mindset to Thrive in Your Coaching Business

    Let’s talk about money, honey.

Most of us have a complicated relationship with money.

    We want more of it.

We believe that more will make us feel happy, safe, free.

Yet, we feel greedy if we want a lot or have ‘too much’.

We feel bad asking other people for it.

    Sound familiar?

When you have a business, it forces you to look at your relationship to money.

If you want to create a profitable business, you must believe in the value you have to offer and you must be okay with receiving money directly for that value.

And if you’re a coach in the online space, you are no doubt seeing messages about how you can…and should be reaching $5K months, no $10K months, no 6-figure months…and you should be able to make that happen in 6 months, no 3 months, no wait, make that 30 days from now.

    Because that is normal, right?

    Hmmmm…..

In this video, I talk about all that you REALLY need to know when it comes to making money and creating a profitable coaching business. Shifting your expectations and perspective around money will make all the difference when it comes to reaching your goals and creating a successful and sustainable business.

  • A Health Coach's Guide to Coaching on Weight, Body Image and Food

Is it just me or does it feel that weight, body image and food have become very complicated topics?

We have a weight crisis worldwide. In fact the World Health Organization has declared obesity a ‘public health crisis’ and it has risen to the #1 cause of preventable deaths (it has surpassed smoking) because of it’s high correlation to heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

At the same time we are bombarded with marketing messages about how we need to look like super models to be happy and successful. This has only been increased in the past two decades with the rise of social media, where images of the ‘ideal body’ are an easy click away.

We are heavily marketed foods that make us sick and fat…and these foods are the most affordable.

Eating disorders are on the rise..many of which go undiagnosed. Good luck finding one person who doesn't struggle with their thoughts around food, their health and their body.

There has also been a huge body positivity movement which is great, but has caused a lot of confusion around whether helping people lose weight goes against ‘body positivity’.

And then we have the rise dieting…everything from Weight Watchers to Jenny Craig, to BeachBody, to Vegan, Keto, Carnivore….ay caramba!

It’s enough to make my, and I’m guessing your, head explode.

So if our heads are exploding, how are we supposed to help our clients?

That’s exactly what I talk about in this week’s episode. As someone who spent more than a decade struggling with an eating disorder, these topics are near and dear to my heart.

In this episode, I talk about how to handle the controversy surrounding weight, body image and food. I also share what is most important and effective (from my experience) when it comes to coaching our clients around these topics. No matter who your ideal client is, this is important because it impacts EVERYONE.
