In episode 8 Habi & Tiff strip it back and invite the listeners into a totally unscripted, free style conversation over their morning coffee. Their chatting covers everything from last meal requests before death, kick boxing, being a stay-at- home parent, hot yoga, Richard Rohr, Habi's energy levels and other random streams of consciousness. Episode 6 brings Habi back to us! This was an extensive conversation in which Habi shared some important insight for, not only parents, but communities in general, when it comes to raising internationally adopted kids. Habi & Tiff chat about kids' origin culture, heritage, language, Black American culture including the show Blackish and the importance of the barber shop. The two also touch on how parents cannot be the be all, end all for their children, and how this is healthy and good. This is a conversation you will definitely need to eavesdrop in on!

Episode 5 finds Tiff alone clarifying a few points from the previous episode. She talks about the idea of all children being parented the same and a bit about her personal process in learning about the harm of international adoption and its ties to the white savior complex. We apologize for the technical/audio issues in this episode! The recording took place during a wifi outage and thunderstorm without mics. We did not catch the fan blowing and feedback until this was recorded and were in a time crunch. We promise to do better next time!

Trigger warning: this episode may be triggering for adoptees// In the fourth episode listen in as Habi & Tiff tackle the tough subject of international adoption and the white savior complex. Habi asks some questions that many adoptive parents should wrestle with. Tiff & Habi discuss some ways in which we need to open our eyes to some of the realities of international adoption and white saviorism. This episode just begins to scratch the surface on this topic and hopefully will give many of us a starting point to begin this conversation and then move toward changing the narrative and system that has harmed so many adoptees.

In episode 3 Habi & Tiff share some of the struggles that they encountered in order to get to the relationship that you hear between them today. It wasn't always easy, and there were times when a close relationship did not seem possible. Listen in as they talk extemporaneously about the journey of their relationship from pound cake, to arguments, to a hole punched in the door, to coffee cakes and a real friendship that has endured significant tests. In episode two Habi and Tiff share about the transition Habi has taken the last few years as he has stepped into adulthood while continuing to live at home with his parents. They talk about the importance of boundaries and how necessary they are for healthy relationships. They share a glimpse into some of their family dynamics, some personal parenting motives, and how allowing kids to form their own identity, agency and autonomy is very important in preparing kids for independence. Tiff and Habi touch on parents supporting kids’ dreams rather than dreaming dreams for their kids. Listeners get to hear about that one time that 13 year old Habi wrote his parents a front and back letter about how much he needed snapchat, and both Tiff and Habi talk a bit about their evolution as human beings.
