Everything But The Kitchen Sink In His Hair
Do you like to brush your hair? Does your mom have to brush it for you?
The author, Leela Hope, has written a wonderful book that probably pertains to most children. My children did not like brushing their hair when they were little and neither do my grandchildren. Lee seemed to be such a nice boy, but he would not brush his hair, no matter what his mom said or did, Lee said 'no'. One day Lee was playing in the mud, and he got so dirty that everything stuck to him when he stood up. The rake, cups and tins and even a raccoon! Lee jumped in the lake to get all clean, but his hair did not. It was piled high on his head and he looked very funny. When you read this book, you will understand what happens next and what Lee did with his very big hair.
Parents/teachers will like reading this book to their children. This is a book that will help the adults explain why it is so important to brush your hair. Children will like the story because it is very funny to see Lee with everything but the kitchen sink in his hair. The illustrations are bright and colorful . They depict all the interesting things that happen to Lee's hair. The author, Leela Hope, always tells her stories in rhyme, and this is one of the best ways for children to learn to like books. This is also a book that has lessons to be learned. Note: a complimentary copy of this book was provided to read and review.

âA raccoon popped out of Leeâs hair, And he let out a yelp.â
San Diego, California Author Leela Hope studied English Literature at Berkeley, earning a degree in 1989. Her writing covers a span of several genres, but she always returns to her first love, children's fiction. And it is there that her star shines brightest. Always finding something unique on which to base her stories, she makes each tale a learning experience for children as well as offering some pointers for parenting!
In her always satisfying rhyming poetry we meet strong-willed Lee who lives by the lake and who loathes having his ample hair combed or brushed. He plays by the lake, gets muddy, jumps in to swim himself clean â but the mud in the lake sticks to him and make his hair round with caked dried mud â and an errant raccoon! Had his hair not been so long and messy he wouldnât have had such a mess. But after the washing and the departure of the captured raccoon Lee goes to the barber and gets his hair cut short. âLee had learned his lesson, to always comb his hair, And he says,â Cause if you donât, raccoons will nest up there!â
So again we have an entertaining story with a fine lesson for youngsters. Leela wins again.
