Shame on a former favorite author!

I am only 40% thru this book and too angry to continue. I am not unsympathetic to established authors who self-publish for more control and bucks. BUT they owe it to their loyal followers to maintain the quality in little things like editing and continuity. There are glaring verb tense errors. There is a mangled sentence where she was obviously going insert a number from research and didn't. But the worst was finishing a chapter in the SEALs in Asia, and starting a new chapter with the herone running from a drug lord in North America and refering to her CIA handler. HUH? Keep going and you finally find out the book skipped three years, a job change, a kidnapping and a few other minor things with no warning. Did the author move a flashback up front without transition? Did she decide to take the book a different direction? Danged if I know. But it is sloppy for a newbie and unforgivable for a writer of Lindsay/Eileen's experience at full price. I'll read your Harlequins but I am done with Delos.

Very Disjointed

Don't know quite where to start. Surprised at first chapters but storyline was ok. Then with abrupt end a new plot begins, you finally in this new plot think u know where u r. Took along time for second plot to evolve into the actual mission. Then without finishing this plot, leaving them in the cave and their rescue, the author again makes an abrupt move to placing the characters at Ali's home waiting for Cara to finish debriefing. Pages and pages of telling us over and over about Ram's background, young life and troubles. Then again the author abruptively ends the book. Was definitely not a great love story. It is the most chopped up story and over played plot about this soldier and his ability to interact that I have ever read. By far NOT the authors best. Probably worst.

More Delos developments

Confusing transitions. We know from previous Delos books, Wyatt Lockwood is married to Alexis and in charge of tactical Delos project. Ali is out of the military and working for the CIA. Then they're both working for Delos and resucueing Ali' sister! Very poor transitions, The action went from the cave to being all accomplished. Needs more fleshing out.but after reading other Delos books, could cope! Again, military scenes very well done. A little too much dialogue, but in the end does come together. Ram's personality is very well developed. Looking forward to next book as usual.

I read all three books and enjoyed them I wish the ending was more detailed it ended to quick. If you want a quick read about three European princes who take an American woman as their own then I recommend this.

I absolutely loved this novel! Take Down was such a surprise hit. The blurb looked fantastic but I didn't expect it to pack the emotional punch that it did. I loved Megan and Gabe. This was such a fantastic novel!

While Take Down was the second novel in the Blood & Glory series, it is a complete standalone. Anyone who knows me knows that I love fighter/MMA books. There is something about the quiet, intense and broody fighter that does it for me. That is exactly what we received here. Gabriel was amazing. He was so so intense and the chemistry between him and Megan was combustible. (And the Smexytimes? GOOD LORD- they were hot!!) I felt drawn to his secret pain and just wanted to hug this man who shied away from emotional entanglements after his tragic past. Megan likewise was great. She was strong and looking to feel whole again after the adverse psychological impact of a past illness. As a result, they helped eachother: a friends with benefits arrangement that would help her find herself again and be more confident in her sexuality while remaining emotion free. But what happens when life happens and feelings develop? Can Gabe give it one more shot or will his past dictate that he walk away from Megan for good?

I really loved this novel. It was sexy, fast paced and surprisingly emotional. I teared up quite a few times. All in all, this was such an amaxing book and I look forward to the next one! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula

More Is Better!

I read and enjoyed these books individually as they came out. If you've been to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and enjoyed Fisher's Popcorn, you will understand when I say more is better! This entire series is a hoot--lighthearted, sweet and fun, with the exactly right HEA (Happily Ever After) for each tale.

~~~SUPPLEMENT (After hearing the AUDIO version)~~~

I had forgotten how varied and rich is Ms Armstrong's imagination. Each of these plots is strong in a different way and presents really serious issues (spousal abuse--you don't have to be beaten with a fist--a voice can be just as deadly; severe allergies; substance abuse; divorce; high school relationships; animal testing; conflicts of interest/ethics) without dragging you into the doldrums. Her delicate touch brings many of these issues under scrutiny, offering insights almost in passing as she focuses on creating as romantic a love story as "Cinderella" (ooh, look at all the issues that one plays with!) in a reality-based context. By which I mean actual real life as opposed to scripted over-the-top drama. And the vocalization offered by narrator Tiffany Williams simply enhances the stories.

Finding love

These are wonderful stories. Its about meeting your match in each of these books. They are clean and written from the heart. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good love story.

Love, Laughter and Happily Ever After

Having read the first box set, I was thrilled to listen to the second set via audiobook! Love love love this series! Tiffany Williams has a great voice, and transitions between characters flawlessly. This set made my commute to work fly by. Lindzee has done it again, and swept me away via written word (and Tiffanys spoken). The characters fit right in where the previous stories left off, and if you havent read the others dont worry. This collection will be wonderful as a standalone as well. Although I have to say that you will, without a doubt, want more! You will be kept on your toes and itching to hear what comes next. Highly recommend this!

Ms. Barker Weaves Another Fantastic Word Tapestry

Freya Barker has done it again. She has woven a rich tapestry of words that draws the reader into the world she has created in her Portland, ME series. She wraps up the reader in a cocoon of well-written, tightly plotted words and emotions. Still Air is the last book in this series and she appears to have saved the enigmas for last. Both Pam and Dino have been supporting and supportive characters in the first three books, but their story is both heart wrenching and surprising.

Pam has always held her cards close to her vest. She has always been there for the women of Portland, supporting and protecting them, when she herself was never given those things. Her backstory is rich in heritage and heartache. The loss she has suffered is life altering and touches the reader to their very soul. She is a strong woman but while she's been caring for everyone else, she's not let anyone take care of her.

Dino, on the other hand, has had his hands full with his wife, her addiction, and her ultimate desertion, while trying to keep his children's lives on an even keel. After his wife leaves, Dino finds out all of the damage that she and her addiction has done, mostly to their son, Jonas. Dino struggles with being a single parent and is blindsided by the actions of his son. Keeping his eye on Jonas, allows his young daughter to begin to slip away also.

Pam and Dino have had an apparent love/hate relationship in the previous books. When Pam finds Jonas in the midst of a gang related crime, she realizes she must tell the boy's father. Ultimately, the couple realizes that their previous animosity toward each other was simply a case of chemistry that they both denied. Their journey together is full of loss, pain, passion, and love. Lucky for them they have an amazing group of friends that are truly more like family to support them.

While Pam struggles with a tremendous loss, Dino seeks to find a balance between his children and the woman who holds his heart. These characters may be the most passionate couple in the Portland, ME series. They may be older and wiser, but the fire they spark in each other all consuming. They are loving, sensual, and sizzling. Ms. Barker writes her characters from the heart. Her books are character driven and full emotion and love. While I'm sad that this is the last book in this series, I'm sure there are more great stories to come from Ms.

Postmodernly infectious--to perfection

Sara Marks' "Modern Persuasion" is in good company. Just as she takes off on Jane Austen, Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" was also an updated take, as described on Wikipedia: "The plot is based on an Italian tale translated into verse as The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet by Arthur Brooke in 1562 and retold in prose in Palace of Pleasure by William Painter in 1567. Shakespeare borrowed heavily from both". Although "Modern Persuasion" is neither as tragic nor as literary, one of its many charms is that it revivifies memory of classic Austen--and sends you back to it. The best books often do that, as Michael Cunningham's "The Hours" recently echoed Virginia Woolf's novel, "Mrs. Dalloway". Another charm of "Modern Persuasion" is that it turns our understanding of being "modern" inside out. We may be up-to-date with text messaging, but the way these messages become graphics and counterpoint to the dialogue in "Modern Persuasion" echoes Jane Austen's original irony, when the constrained manners and speech of the characters are belied by their real desires. And Marks has her own ironies: In the tale of publishing and writers, one expects to hear about "writing styles"--but not about "editing" styles, as in this brilliant understatement: "Maybe she just recognized my editing style". Meanwhile, our cellphone (and smartwatch) life is documented with unself-conscious aplomb: "I still hadn't taken my phone off 'do not disturb' so I missed calls from Mary and Louise. Even Freddy put his phone on silent eventually. We weren't ready for the rest of the world". This novel begs the question of whether we readers, who constitute the rest of the world, are also ready to put our social selves on 'do not disturb' long enough to silently read this infectious postmodern work.

Highly Recommended

I started this book as the least likely person in the room to read a romance novel. Modern Persuasion didn't change that. I have no prior connection to it's inspiration (having never read an Austen novel in my life) and have never completed a romance novel outside of literature class. It's not my thing.

That said, Modern Persuasion didn't set out to make me a romance reader. It set out to be enjoyable, relatable, and cathartic.

Great Contemporary Romance

Im well familiar with this great author. I always enjoy her fun stories and this one is no exception. The characters are likable and the story well written.

Narration was excellent and brought the story to life.

The story is about second chances. The main characters had met 5 years before and after a brief romance they went their separate ways. This is a stand-alone book although it is book 3 in this series. You cannot go wrong with this talented author.

Rebecca and Zaid had a relationship in the past and now she is in his country and is determined to help the poorest people there. He discovers that he has a son and they must now fight for their lives and freedom. Good Narration. Outstanding Narrator and Story!

Nicholas Thurkettle has a phenomenal voice and did a fantastic job narrating this slow burn, second chance romance with a dash of political intrigue. Leslie North's characters were wonderful and the story felt well thought out and researched. I look forward to reading more of her Sheikh's stories! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.

I found this book to be a great addition to the series and enjoyed this second chance at love. The narration on this book was spot on with the accents. Nicholas Thurkettle is very talented. He brought more realistic emotions with his performance. I have enjoyed many books by this talented author, and found the author did an awesome job bringing suspense and imagery to this book, along with a message. Another great addition to this series!

What can I say but more Brandon & Spencer *Sigh* Brandon & Spencer have had some rough times throughout their relationship...who am I kidding it wasn't rough it was down right horrible people doing horrible things to them. Now that they have everything they wanted including a baby life should be perfect...but what they've been through doesn't make their HEA perfect right away. They still have some things to over come and having a new baby isn't easy. This isn't a topic easily brought up. The emotions are so real and Kimberly has done an amazing job addressing them. If you loved these two as much as I do you'll be so happy to relive some of those special moments with them;) Thanks Kimberly for giving us more of Brandon & Spencer.

Always Love more Spencer and Brandon...5 Stars

I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review. I was so excited to find out we were getting more of Brandon and Spencer. I love these characters and couldn't wait to continue their story. I think what I loved most about this book is it deals with something that most women deal with once having their precious babies. Post-partum life/depression. I didn't deal with it personally but they way Kimberly wrote this novella really pulled at my heartstrings for Spencer and everything she was feeling and going through. Spencer was so scared to talk to anyone about how she was feeling for fear of being judged. Brandon wanted to do anything possible to help Spencer and to show her that she is a good mother and wife.

These characters have had a special place in my heart since the beginning and to read about their struggles in the beginning was hard because you just want them to be nothing but happy. Even though parenthood brought them a rough patch, they were able to pull through because of the love and connection they have with one another. I will never get tired of reading about Brandon and Spencer. I am excited about Blake getting his book and hopefully we will get a little dose of Brandon and Spencer in there as well.

A nice follow-up novella for Brandon and Spencer.

Brandon and Spencer really go off the rails after the birth of their son, Kyle. Both of them have their own insecurities and fears that eat away at them. I love all books by this author. Aiden Snow rocks as a narrator. Great duo.

Don't waste your time.

I couldn't get through this book at all, I tried at least 3 times and it was a no go. I thought the character development was not good and the story/back story was impossible to follow.
