Loved it! I couldn't put it down it was insightful & funny at the same time. Now I can't wait to put it to work!
Powerfully positive !
These two sisters are remarkable women. The book is a breath of fresh air. In what are deeply genuine remembrances of their own personal struggles, we all relate. We all can laugh at ourselves here. We get a sense of camaraderie and take comfort and validation in our own struggles.
It is witty, intelligent and brutally honest, and it's easy to read. No mumbo jumbo preachy BS here.
There are lots of people who live every moment with anxiety/depression,PTSD, etc.
It is great to know we are not alone and someone still cares. The authors imply there is a light 'and it never goes out'
The Therapy Twins give us hope that life may have had us down, but there is another side, and we can find it if we try.

The Best! Jane & Joan are great and what an easy read. I've known Joan for about a year know and I would recommend anyone to go see her and read anything they put out. They are angels in disguise !

With "From Under the Hood", The Therapy Twins's (Jane and Joan) make a radical and refreshing break from the self-help genre in the very (appropriate?) format of a manifesto! As a lover and long-time "addict" of self-help literature, I was initially skeptical of the slim & sleek book that a good friend of mine had adamantly recommended. Having just finished, and been transfixed by, Tolle's, "The Power of Now", my conception of a deep and affecting work was, more than ever, cemented by the idea of the self-proclaimed prophet, long/tedious prose, and after all with a mountain of abstract and personal work left to be executed in the day-to-day. In stark contrast to this prevalent style, "Under the Hood" leads the reader through an intimate and emotional landscape formed by relationships (yes, they are twins in real life!) and shaped by diversity that is at once upsetting and comical, whimsical and poignant all from the ground up. Importantly, the primacy of coping strategies is conveyed via sometimes heartbreaking anecdotes that are then always broken down and made to feel small in the face of mundane human perseverance joined with loving relationships. The narrator, ostensibly Jane AND Joan (while referring to both in the third person) imparts wisdom, not as an enlightened guru but as a peer.
