Suspenseful and fun
A fast-moving thriller that keeps you wondering about the safety of Charles and Louise (middle-aged US spies) as they try to uncover something embarrassing about the President of France. Their assignment takes them to Paris, Marseilles, and finally Kazakhstan where they uncover a drug ring and terrorist plot. This tightly written first novel is filled with credible and enticing details.
Monsieur le Président (Charles and Louise)
What a fun and quick read! It's so nice to see an older couple as protagonists of a story. Also it was great to see that using one's intelligence and wit was far more effective than brawn. I really liked the descriptions of Kazakhstan which were quite vivid and a place I will probably never get to visit. Charles and Louise are like old friends, folks you enjoy being around. Read it, you will enjoy it.
Looking forward to the next one
My wife and I enjoyed this thoroughly. Woody's experience in Kazakhstan comes into play with two delightful characters. Imagine: A 'spy' novel with no violence!! If you haven't got it yet, I recommend that you do so.
Great tavelogue; great characters; suspenseful
This book gives a wonderful portrait of little known parts of the old Soviet Union. Really interesting description of exotic people and places. Unexpected characters and fine suspense.
A fun story.
It is a fun, light read. I'd recommend it to any and all of my reading friends. I'm eager for the second in the series to come out.
