Jehovah's Witness Point of view

The viewpoint of the commentary is Jehovah's Witness....and it uses the Jehovah's Witness New World Translation which is very disappointing to me. The translation is subtley changes the word of God to support their views. The parts I listened to made Jesus out to be one of many angels. That is a problem...even in Hebrews chapter one where the writer was making the point that Jesus was greater than the angels the New World Translation still puts Jesus as an angel...they missed the entire point of the bible chapter!.....anyway reader beware this audiobook and bible version are Jehovah's Witness products.

Every Cookie Cutter Christian should devour this .

I left the church years ago after being a missionary. Church on the Couch tells it like is through a women's perspective. This is vitally needed within the Body of Christ. Kathy Escobar 's blog site linked the text and I couldn't stop listening once I downloaded it on Audible... Loved the female narration and chapter about using butcher paper on table's and walls. Great idea for small groups. This book will help you articulate what is behind the shutter of appearances and enable you to hear that still small voice of God.

Excellent, thoughtful intro and contribution to the science/religion debate by comitted Christians

An excellent intro to the science/religion debate. It touches on almost every issue in some way and shows how committed Christians who are also scientists are dealing with the "debate". This book is a must for any Evangelical Christian who thinks evolution and the other findings of modern science are in direct antithesis to their Christian beliefs. It's also a must for any non-believer who thinks all Christians are ignorant and take what the Bible says in blind faith over the findings of modern science. Not Just Science presents authentic attempts to maintain the integrity of both Christianity and science. I only felt there was one downfall - I would have given the book 5 stars had I not felt that the authors relegated Christianity solely to the realm ethics too often.

Best book I have ever read on science and religion.

Some excellent observations by experts in various fields. I substitute teach an Adult Sunday School class and have found a lot of information that I could use in my teaching. it offers great insights on the Bible and science.

As the general manager of a high technology company with global operations, I found Bill's insights to be very thought provoking. Bill clearly communicates with helpful and humorous illustrations essential elements of practical leadership for today. For example, Bill acknowledges we are in a world of breakneck change and shows that leaders must be change masters to help their teams thrive. This is a book any leader would find helpful whether you're in a corporate, non-profit, community, sacred or secular leadership position. I will definitely be recommending this book to my friends and colleagues.

Very practical leadership help for everyone

I have read many dozens of books on leadership, but this book provides more sound, practical advise to help everyone be a leader wherever they are.

It focuses on character as the most important characteristic of effective leaders. They are trustworthy, transparent, honest, have vision and encourage others to go with them.

Other sections include: "Humble leaders rely on God for his strength and guidance. Accomplished leaders know that commitment eventually leads to success. The references are excellent and I am meeting with a group of men weekly to study the book using the study guide that is included.

Read this Book!

I read "Awaken the Leader Within" while I was doing research for my tape series "Jesus and the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership." This is an excellent book and provided me with many wonderful insights. If you are searching for a book that is well written, fun to read, and filled with pointed and practical insights about leadership, you'll love this book. In fact, you'll probably find yourself referring others to it.

Essential and pratical tool for living out God's calling

Bob provides an essential and practical tool for both individuals and churches to live out their calling. As individuals, many people are stuck in jobs, or vocations and are not satisfied because they miss God's calling. Churches are stagnating because people aren't released to fulfill their callings in the world and ministry is left to the few ministerial "professionals". This book provides a tool for releasing individuals and churches to be all that God intended.

amazing new way of thinking

The De-Centralized Word

Here's the great thing about this book: Roberts explains that globalization is a force impacting more than ivory tower academics or even international corporations. Instead, globalization is impacting everyday citizens. But rather than projecting a negative outlook, Roberts asserts that globalization allows for a de-centralized world to be more open to the Gospel. In other words, if you're open to being connected, then you CAN be connected. The old top/down models are over, and the side-to-side model is here. If you want to connect to the world through the Gospel, you'll love this book.

Helpful for mission teams to read

This book is a great encouragement to see how ordinary Christians can use their daily work as the key resource to transform the world for Christ.
