Trying to earn a sustainable income from selling your art is never comfortable, but it’s always worth it. The push back I hear most often from artists is selling art through social media, doing shows in person, or getting their art into a gallery.  I want you to know that you don’t have the sell art in person to be successful, there are many options available, but you do have to pick something.  I’ve asked Marianne Nielsen to join us because she’s had the same aversion to selling in person and has found a way around it that is more natural and in flow with her and her art style.  “You have to do something, and then what you're doing, you have to lean into it really hard.” -Miriam Schulman  I want you to consider what methods of marketing and selling your art you’ve been most resistant to and what you could push yourself to try. Being uncomfortable is a part of your growth and journey as an artist and as a person.  Key ideas and thoughts we’re discussing:  Nurturing and growing your email list isn’t as scary as you think  The trick Marianne uses to get a 60% open rate on her emails  How Marianne is using Pinterest to grow her email list and get 200k+ visitors Our reaction to Benjamin Moore’s color of the year for 2023  Marianne paints abstract art intuitively from her dining room overlooking the forest through the window, moved and inspired by her emotional state and mindset in the moment. As uncomfortable as she was to sending weekly emails, through my incubator program she allowed herself the discomfort and trusted the process. Selling art in person isn’t the only option, and between Marianne’s email list and Pinterest, there is inspiration for you to uncover what will work for you.  “Painting has been a huge emotional healing process for me, and it still is, [...] It taught me so much about myself.” - Marianne H.
