Today's episode is a pretty special one. I had the chance to sit down and chat with entrepreneur Sienny Thio. Sienny is the founder and creative director of The Mood Lab, a minimalist branding studio for bold and creative visionaries. She is the one who designed the brand identity for the You Run Like A Girl podcast, which is why I'm extra excited about having her on the show. We talk about how she went from working at the UN to running her own business, discuss what a brand is and isn't, hear her tips on using exercise for maintaining physical and mental health and get her advice on what business owners looking to start a new brand should think about. We also got real and talked about the struggles that come with building a new brand and launching any new endeavour. Although I met Sienny through working together on this project, I now consider her a friend and am proud to have her as my guest today. Enjoy!

Can a genetic response to certain types of food play a role in how well an athlete performs? That's one of the main overarching questions my guest today has been investigating for years. Dr. Nanci Guest wears many hats: she's a registered dietician, personal trainer, researcher and a strength and conditioning coach, among other things. Nanci earned a PhD in Nutritional Sciences from The University of Toronto where she focused on how nutrigenomics affects athletic performance, with a particular interest in caffeine response and genetic variation. Nanci is also a consultant to professional and amateur athletes and has worked with the Vancouver Canucks, athletes in the NHL, NBA and CFL, as well as athletes competing at the national, world and Olympic levels in cycling, swimming, gymnastics, soccer and much, more more. In our interview we talk about why Nanci decided to pursue a PhD, hear about her ground-breaking research and discuss what's next for the future of nutrigenomics.
