The tenth and final commandment says, “you shall not covet,” but does that mean God forbids us to desire anything? No. God wants us to pursue and desire the things of Him and aspire for a better future while remaining content, joyful, and grateful in Him. The fault comes when we covet the things of our neighbor and when we want the right things in the wrong way.
