This episode discusses the process in becoming a foster parents as well as some essential viewpoints before starting the process. I briefly go over supporting the foster child's religion and reunification as the goal. I also talk about the difference between getting licensed from an agency vs. DCS.

This episode is not a complete look into why we should support the biological parents of the children we care for. This is just the beginning. I strongly believe in doing what we can as foster parents to keep adoption open and to include biological parents in these kids lives. I also support reunification which is the goal of foster care. Listen to this episodes and future episodes on this topic to understand why this is so important. Thank you to everyone who has supported this podcast so far. Please share this and/or leave a comment.

No amount of stuff will ever heal the trauma these kids go through. Find out in this episode why donating things is not as valuable as teaching these kids to be prepared for adulthood. If you think others will benefit from this podcast, please share it. Also feel free to leave a comment or review. You can also send me a private message on Facebook if you have questions. I would love to hear from you!
This episode will contain potentially triggering topics such as sexual abuse, self harm, suicide, and other forms of trauma. This episode includes the story of a Former Foster Youth who later became a foster parent. Her story is one of triumph and success despite so many traumatic and awful experiences. She is obviously a strong and intelligent woman who overcame all the roadblocks she could not control.

In this episode I will talk about a few of my favorite days as a foster parent. Every-day moments are great and I have so many memories to cherish, but it was the hard days and the growth that resulted that stands out to me the most. I love being a foster and adoptive parent. I hope you enjoy hearing these stories.
In this episode I will discuss how certain questions can create awkward conversations. I will also cover more about what it is like to be a foster parent and common misconceptions about foster care. Themes of this episode include; reunification, fostering teens, open adoption, and challenges of parenting. This episode is still a little broad and introduces many topics I will cover in depth in future episodes.
Show note: I mention being selfish and I want to clarify that I believe everyone is selfish to some extent. This is not meant to be a personal attack. Personally my goal is to learn to make choices in a way that benefits the most people including myself, but I still often find myself making selfish choices that do not benefit others in the way I would hope. I think it is okay to care for ourselves and make selfish decisions because without that, we would not be able to help others. I think it is also important that we contribute our time and talents to create a well balanced community. We are all selfish and we could all improve this in some way or another. I do not believe I am in any way superior and I'm very aware I have many flaws. When I state that we should contemplate whether or not the word selfish applies to us, I include myself.

This is the story of our family and how we became adoptive and foster parents. This episode discuses religious themes such as personal revelation from God. I believe God still talks to His people and can inspire each of us to follow paths when we might choose a more comfortable direction. I will discuss the way in which I have received this personal revelation and how it inspired my choice to adopt our children. This episode is meant to be a summary and I will go more into depth on each concept in future episodes. There might be many controversial topics that I glaze over. I cannot spend too much time explaining every detail or the episode would never end.
Please be patient with my lack of editing skills in this episode. I am learning and episodes will get better. The music is a little loud at the beginning but it will fade out. Thank you for your understanding.
