In this conversation George talks with, Dipika Badal. They discuss youth mobilization, HIV awareness, climate activism, post disaster response and the vital importance of youth empowerment. Dipika is 21 years old, from Nepal and is a student in Forestry Science at Kathmandu Forestry College. She currently serves as the President of ‘We’ for Change, a youth-led NGO in Nepal. Her interest in engaging young people on adopting a healthy lifestyle and environment led her to implement 5 projects and 20+ programs, reaching 5000+ youths since 2014. Dipika is a proud recipient of the Peace First (USA) Fellowship where she mobilized 150 young people to raise their voices for health concerns from air pollution. She is a positive, energetic and inspiring young leader who believes in the power of youth to create positive change!

Maureen Muketha is a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 advocate and a passionate Nutritionist. She is a strong believer in good nutrition practices and a resilient food security system, and is a firm believer that no human being should die of hunger or Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as Hypertension and Diabetes.

To bring this into fruition, she founded a Community Based Organization called Tule Vyema. A Swahili word for “Let’s Eat Right”, the organization raises awareness of proper nutrition practices in communities to eliminate incidences of malnutrition. Kiki Achyana is a passionate disability advocate from Indonesia who has been part of several projects related to disability issues in his home country. H recently launched a startup, Parakerja, which is a platform for people with disabilities with the aim to create an inclusive work ecosystem by training and connecting future employees and employers and empower trainees to pursue their dreams. We talk about how we can work on ending discrimination based on disability in both the public and the private spheres. Kiki also tells us why he decided to work on this issue and what he loves most about being a social entrepreneur. In this episode George chats with Valeria Perez about her work in human rights activism and education for youth in El Salvador. The country experienced a fully fledged civil war between 1980-1992 with 75,000 people killed and over 7,000 who went missing, creating a highly divided and broken society. Hence, Valeria's work in improving human rights education as well as improving the historical memory for youth in El Salvador is vitally important. The conversation also touches on how youth can build confidence to create positive change they wish to see!
