If you’re feeling emotionally tired tonight, this may be why.
Today was about how easily other people’s moods can start to feel like feedback—and how quickly we begin adjusting ourselves in response.
When someone with authority is tense or upset, your system may have gone into scan mode. Watching tone. Monitoring reactions. Trying to prevent things from getting worse.
That response makes sense. It kept you safe once.
But just because you can feel what’s happening doesn’t mean it belongs to you.
You’re allowed to notice emotion without taking it on. You’re allowed to stay present without fixing the room.
If you’re replaying someone else’s mood right now, pause for a moment.
Put one hand on your chest.
Put one hand somewhere that feels steady—your chair, your leg, the floor.
Take a slow breath.
Then ask yourself:
Is this my feeling?Did anyone ask me to manage it?
If the answer is no, you don’t need to keep carrying it tonight.
You can let feelings move through the space without moving them into yourself.
Before you log off for the night, remind yourself:
I can care without absorbing.
Micro-boundary:“These feelings are not mine to manage.”
We’ll keep building this tomorrow. For now, it’s okay to let the emotional weight settle outside your body.
Deep breath. You’ve got this.
