Your Dental Besties

Ben and Claire discuss the EFP probe. Have you seen this, and would you find it useful?

Ben catches Claire off guard, and despite her protests to edit that bit out, Ben argues to keep it in, and so we took this episode off Claire so she cannot edit it. We decided it was funnier to keep the episode authentic, so team YDB kept it in!

After this blip, they discuss blood pressure and whether we should measure it in clinic. Ben orders some BP monitors for when he is in clinic. Team YDB promises to let you know how that goes in future episodes.

Ben talks about a forum he has seen about dental tourism and this leads to a conversation about dental tourism before they close the show.

THANKYOU to our sponsors EMS, who make this show possible.

Season 7 begins with Ben and Claire talking about new shiny pieces of kit that can be useful in clinic. From Flamingo, to AI note taking, to Cordeze, to GBT machine.

What new pieces of kit have you heard of recently? We want to review more things so that we can see if it is worth you investing.

If you want to invest in a GBT machine, or you want to discuss the deal for hygienists and therapists to invest in it further, please reach out to use at @clairelouisesays or @thegumsguy and we can connect you to a GBT expert to discuss. Or you can DM @EMSdentalUK

Thank you to our sponsors EMS UK for believing in us

Claire gives us another rendition of 'when dentistry turns to murder'. Hear about the dentist who poisoned his wife and the dentist who shot his wife on safari. Yes there are 2 in this episode.

Ben and Claire then discuss if hygienists can treat pets, and successfully made us realise why they cannot.

Thanks for our sponsor EMS and don't forget to join us at the dentistry show in May at Birmingham

Ben and Claire invited the lovely Gareth onto the podcast to discuss all things income protection.

Have you ever wondered why you might need it? How to look into it? What different levels of cover mean? Then this is a podcast to listen to.

Gareth is well-versed in the dental industry, which is important. And you will see what a lovely guy he is too.

You can contact Gareth on 07496254769 or find him on Facebook using his name when you search (Gareth Fitchett).

We hope you enjoy this episode, do let us know if you find it helpful.

Ben and Claire talk about fads that have been popular. From charcoal toothpaste to tooth gems. What fads can you remember.

Team YDB also have an exciting announcement! We will be at the Birmingham Dentistry Show at the NEC on the 15th -16th May. We are picking up the set and moving it to Birmingham. We will have some stools on the set so that some people can be involved on the LIVE podcast sessions. Do you want to be involved in the podcast? DM us on instagram on @clairelouisesay, @yourdentalbesties or @thegumsguy to discuss securing your place.

Come to the Birmingham Dentistry Show with your friends and use it to network, socialise and gain CPD. We will also be talking to some of the speakers, from nurses to hygienists/therapists and dentists. Come along and ask your questions and have your say. We hope to see you there. Register for it today.

Ben and Claire get to know Lauren and Catherine, one a newly qualified therapist and the other a newly qualified hygienist. Hear about their life as they embark on their new careers. How have they found it so far? Can you resonate? Hear about their time at dental school and their first year since qualifying.

Do you want to hear more like this? Do you want to be involved? Get in touch with the pod or comment to have your say.

We are proud to be sponsored by EMS and want to take this moment to say a big thank you to EMS for supporting us so we can bring this content to you.

Ben & Claire haven't done this in a while, so they have gone in with a double agony aunt/agony uncle.

Query 1) Do you escort your patients to the front desk?

Query2) Patients getting mad when you call in sick

Let us know what you would do with each of these questions. Would you do the same? We love to hear from you, get in touch.

Don't forget to like, comment and share.

This one is for the newly qualified amongst us. Sophie Lianne joined Ben and Claire on the sofa. Join them for a wonderful conversation about life as a dental hygienist and therapist. It was great to get to know Sophie and her background.

Sophie joined from a non dental background and she qualified from the wonderful Sheffield Dental School. If you are thinking of applying to Sheffield use this episode to find out what student life is like there.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM TEAM YDB. We hope your 2026 has amazing things planned.

Also, to correct Ben and Claire- this is infact season 6 (not season 5 as they say in the episode. DOH)!

In this episode watch Ben attempt a Guinness World Record live on air. Does he succeed? We bet you can't guess what it is!

Then they duo talk about lifestyle medicine in light of Claire doing a diploma in it with Siobhan Kelleher Education. Is this something you have looked into? Hygienists and therapists are very well placed to have these conversations with patients.

We hope you had a great Christmas and fantastic new year and you are feeling refreshed and ready to wow the world. Tell us what you are up to in 2026. Thanks for being on this journey with us

Ben and Claire start with some Guinness World Records (tooth edition).

They then discuss things they have been watching on TV lately. What have you been watching? Give us your recommendations for Netflix, Sky Atlantic etc. We all like to be told of a good series to get into after a hard day at work.
