Your EPIC Life

We discuss what really helps create wellness at work, including some systemic factors that contribute. We talk beyond checking the boxes and get into really integrating wellness in the day to day.

Tiffanie and Christy discuss the trials and joys they have experienced through each age of raising their now teenagers.

Stress happens daily, but what can we do about it? Oftentimes we try to calm ourselves, but that can be really hard, and not always the most effective way to deal with stress.  

Action Step:  Pick a time of day, maybe mid day, afternoon, after work, and experiment with a short and simple practice to complete your stress cycle.

What are natural consequences? Can we really parent using them, and how do we use them? What about when safety is involved? 

Action step: Reflect upon a consequence you gave in the last week.  What would it look like, and what may happen if you let a natural consequence occur instead? Can you experiment (without judgment, and lots of grace) with natural consequences?

Tiffanie and Christy discuss parenting guilt- something everyone experiences in some way shape and form.  What is it, why does it happen, and what can we do about it? 

Action step: Practice a reframe of the story of what you may be feeling guilty about.  

(Examples: You’re feeling guilty because you walked away when your kid was yelling or crying. Reframe: I was overwhelmed and gave myself a moment so I could be ready to help. Example: I stayed at work too long talking to a co-worker.  Reframe: I connected with a friend after work, so I could come home a little less stressed from the work day.)

Action step: Start building or strengthening that support group.  How can you create connection with others? Who are your support people? Then, start experimenting with some vulnerable conversations about emotions and compassion fatigue.
