Let’s get your boys out of the dark! It’s important that boys see menstruation as a normal and healthy process. The more you educate them about it, the better equipped he’ll be to act with compassion toward girls and women.

Periods aren’t just a thing that women experience and that only women need to care about. Throughout their life, men will be having contact with females – their sisters, school friends, intimate partners, work colleagues and perhaps even their own daughter in the future. It is important to build their empathy, compassion, and confidence to talk openly and positively about periods. And to care about the implications of period in their lives.

Not sure when and how you should start talking about period to your girl? By having early and continuous conversations about periods, you help normalize them. Your daughter might feel more comfortable coming to you with questions and it helps them to feel more prepared for their period. You don’t need to pack every single piece of information into one talk. Your goal is to have the first talk and share with your daughter more information gradually.
