Dr. Laura and Dr. Elena are joined by Dr. Maria G Aramburu, to discuss the impact of social media use in teens. Dr. Aramburu is an assistant professor of Pediatrics and a board-certified pediatrician. She received her training in General Pediatrics and a Fellowship in Community Pediatrics at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC and graduated in 2012. Dr. Aramburu holds a Master's degree in Public Health and has specialized training in motivational interviewing, pediatric and adolescent mental health management, trauma-informed care, and integrative mental health practices.
From 2012 to 2022, Dr. Aramburu served as an attending physician at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, where she also served as medical director of a school-based health center. During her tenure, she created and directed an integrated mental health clinic for teenagers. Her focus of practice is adolescent mental health, which is also the focus of her social media account, @pediatricsmom. Through her work on social media, Dr. Aramburu aims to empower families to identify, prevent, and manage pediatric mental health conditions early and in a trauma-informed way. She is also an advocate for decreased stigma in mental health.
Dr. Aramburu currently practices as an Adolescent Focused Pediatrician in the Department of Adolescent Medicine at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Pennsylvania, USA.
