We are constantly bombarded with health & wellness information all over social media, much of it either very exaggerated, misleading, or conflicting. Fitness influencers can be very relatable, fun, and offer great ideas/inspiration. However, many people profit off of their looks at the cost of exploiting people’s insecurities. What makes someone qualified to give out diet/exercise information? At what point does information go from helpful to harmful? What are some tips when searching out reputable people to follow? Take a listen to find out!
We’re baaaaack! We’ve got a fun episode this week talking about gym pet peeve submissions from you all. Everyone has a pet peeve, some are kind of specific & others are just common courtesy. Everyone also probably has done/regularly does something that annoys other gym goers. At the end of the day, your gym time is for you & you will never please everyone. So, f*ck what anyone else thinks, do what makes you feel confident, & get the most out of your time there!
We’ve allllll made this excuse before: “I don’t have time”, often in reference to exercise, but also in a variety of aspects of life. A better way to phrase this is, “I’m not making this a priority at the moment.” We all have 24 hours in a day, no matter how different each of our 24 hours may look. We’re not magically going to find extra hours in our days, so how do you make the time? Listen in this week as we take a closer look at how we’re spending our days, what we’re choosing to prioritize, and how we can prioritize activities that align with our goals.
Movement is a privilege! We harp a lot on the importance of exercise and try to provide inspiration, education, and motivation to move your body. But, it’s not always that easy. This episode we wanted to recognize challenges many people face when it comes to movement, including, physical, financial, and environmental barriers. Whether you are someone who experiences one of these barriers or know someone who does, this episode will put the privilege of exercise into perspective and encourage you to move your body in whatever capacity you’re capable of :)
Toss ya scales! This week we’re talking about ways to measure progress that have nothing to do with how much you weigh. But before we just toss scales out the window, we’ll talk about why the scale may fluctuate day to day (hint: it usually has nothing to do with fat loss/gain). Luckily, there are a plethora of other ways we can measure progress, which we dive into and share some of your amazing ideas and goals. If you’re looking for ideas on how to move away from scale-based motivation and goals, take a listen!
Incoming BRAIN GAINS in this week's episode! We’re talking about biological differences between males/females when it comes to lifting. From structural to hormonal and all the way down to the muscle fiber itself. Do males and females have different adaptations to resistance training? Should we be training differently? No exercise science background needed, we did all the legwork for you 🤓
