GOLIATH MUST FALL #8  SELF MUST FALL

Of all the giants we’ve examined thus far, there is one that is common to all, hiding underneath them if you will.  The biggest giant you will ever face, is the one staring you back in the mirror each morning; the giant of SELF…but it too, MUST fall!

What about those deep-seeded, long-term giants that taunt us?  Your giant of addiction may not be one of the “major ones”, it may be a more “everyday addiction”.  Regardless, the giant of addiction must fall; we look at how that can happen in this week’s session.

If we are to live in freedom, it is vital that the giant of anger must fall.  We’ll look at a three-step plan for making sure that this giant is banished from your past, as well as your present and future in this week’s study.

It may be the most insidious “giant” of all, and one of the most common as well.  It is so easy for us to “get used to it” and just settle in to a place of comfort or complacency, even if it means we’re allowing a giant to hold us there and keep us from experiencing and doing all that God has designed for us and called us to do.

Rejection comes in many facets and ways into our lives, and literally taunts and challenges every single person.  David was no exception, but he stepped on to the battlefield that day from a “position of acceptance”…not rejection.  This week we examine the foundation truths that helped young David deal with the giant of rejection.

The first giant we meet in this epic tale in 1 Samuel 17 is Goliath; but the second one is the giant of FEAR.  Whether you label it as fear, worry, anxiety, stress or terror; we all tend to struggle with this giant.  But like David over Goliath, through the power of Christ’s work…this giant must fall as well!

The last part of David & Goliath’s story in 1 Samuel 17 concludes with someone losing their head!  There is a deep spiritual principle involved in why David cut off Goliath’s head…after he was already dead.  It has rich meaning for us today, in dealing with the giants we face.
