When she walked into his English class in 1952, Bill thought Barbara was the most strikingly beautiful woman he had ever seen. Two months later they were married, and they had a wonderful marriage for more than 65 years.

When Kathy first met Bill in 1969, she couldn’t stand him! Despite her first impression, Bill’s good humor soon won her over. Married for almost 48 years, laughter, good cooking, and having fun as Santa Bill and Mrs. Claus has given them a lot to enjoy together.

Joanne and Lee met when they were eight years old in 1942 and married in 1954. With the great combination of communication, kindness, faith, and a kiss goodnight- every night,  they have celebrated 65 happy years together.

Donnetta and Duane met at Purdue University in 1956 and were married for 47 years until he unexpectedly passed away in 2004.

Duane, a veterinarian, had a specialty in racehorses and was the beloved Doc at the Hoosier Park Racetrack in Anderson, IN. While Duane was finishing his degree in 1958, Donnetta was going to women’s homes to teach them how to use the new electric sewing machines.

Betty and Willis just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They were, coincidentally, born in the same house, three years apart.

Betty is a retired teacher who taught for 30 years while Willis is a retired pharmacist who lectured about quackery for the Indiana State Board of Health. They supported each other through a lifetime of hard work and enjoy a family that has always been close.

Lois and Bob grew up in the same small town, and even though Bob had been drafted for the Korean war, they married and started a family in 1951.

They had a long, successful 67-year marriage finding support in family, friends, and faith. Unfortunately, Bob passed away in 2018. Lois is surrounded by family however, including 10 grandchildren and soon to be 12 great-grandchildren.

Dick and Ruth met on a blind date, fell in love, and married ALL in 1967.

They have been happily married for over 50 years.

Now, because of Ruth’s decreasing memory, he is the one taking care of her and he’s happy to do it.

Also, just for fun, this episode ends with a recording I made of Dick, my father Bill and their friends singing the bluegrass song “The Girl I Left Behind Me.”

In 1956, Dorothy was one of the first few women in civil engineering at Cornell University. As she walked past Dick in the hallway he turned to a professor and said “Wait! What was that?”

Three years later they married and have been together for 60 years

LaVerne and Ron overcame many obstacles to stay together including being engaged to other people, cold feet before the wedding, and living all over the world. They have been married for 62 years, and when I turned off the microphone, Ron leaned in to tell me… “she’s still my Girlfriend”.

Anne was a foreign exchange student from Germany when she met Daryl in 1982 during a square dance at a College in Boston. They ended up having three weddings in 1983, so according to Anne, “… if we ever wanted to get pulled apart, we would have three knots to undo.”
