Happy New Year friends! Today's episode is all about mental health, the fact that YOU ARE NOT ALONE, how to get started with the therapy process, how to find a therapist, what people hate about therapy and what people love about therapy. Lindsey also shares her personal journey with finding a new therapist in a new area, and gives a little insight how to help someone who may be struggling with their mental health.

Referral from friends 
Referral from primary care physician 
Referral from another therapist 
Insurance company website 

Things to consider when finding a therapist:
Do you prefer to go to therapy in-person or are you more comfortable with a virtual format? 
Do you have a gender preference when it comes to a therapist? 
Is there something you need or want your therapist to specialize in? 
If you do prefer in-person, how far are you willing to travel?
What are your personal goals for therapy? 

If you're emailing potential therapists and aren't sure what to say, here's a short template (you can include more info about yourself or what your goals are if you're comfortable doing that): 

Hi! My name is YOUR NAME and I'm hoping to schedule a therapy session with you. I can be reached at CONTACT PHONE and/or EMAIL. Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.  

Remember, therapists are here to support you through your mental health journey and give you tools and resources to help make you successful. A good therapist will never judge you!
