Musikfest Magic!  We've learned that all 5 members of Gadan will be joining us today at Godfrey Daniels during their time here for the festival.

Gadan is Irish music with American flavor and Italian seasoning - a storming new band blending the drive of Irish trad and bluegrass with the soul of folk and Appalachian music… spiced with Italian flair! Featuring young yet seasoned Italian musicians, they joined forces in 2024 with Enda Scahill, tenor banjo legend and founder of We Banjo 3, and now featuring Eric Long from the US.

With no less than three outrageous, unlawful, and audacious banjos – plus fiddle, mandolin, and guitar – Gadan delivers a powerful “strings-only” sound, enhanced by a driving rhythmic pulse. Their high energy performance and audience engagement prove you don’t need drums to groove!

The band is made up of:

This week we'll spend time with Pooja, Noah and Wallace - the trio known as Koyal (like "Royal" but with a "K") who are generating incredible tracks and cookin with gasoline.

Now LA-based, Koyal is an indie pop-rock trio from ATL on the rise, composed of lead vocalist Pooja Prabakaran, guitarist/producer Noah Weinstein, and drummer Wallace. Formed in their college basement, the trio’s friendship and musical chemistry have propelled them forward, steadily building a loyal fanbase and a diverse discography ranging from soft acoustic to main stage disco-pop. Get ready to orbit a unique asteroid belt of sonic influences seldom seen in one place, including punk, hip-hop, rock-n-roll and folk.  But don't be nervous!  We've got Nikki and all her chill pills to help us navigate things.

Nervous Nikki and the Chill Pills is a band based in the suburbs of Philly led by drummer and vocalist Nicole Bauza. Sonically, they orbit in a unique asteroid belt of influences. Together Nicole, Nathan, Doug, and Kendal bring you punchy bass lines, melodic guitar riffs, and group singing powered by raw emotion.

We'll be joined by frontwoman Nicole Bauza who writes, sings and play drums (sometimes guitar), as well as bassist Nathan Swavely.  Together we'll explore their amazing music catalog, learn about the BMX vibe that permeates their videos, and what exactly contributed to the awesome band name.

We'll share their tracks "Mediocre At Best", "Day Off", "Red Hot Sun" and "Limits" and sounds like Nicole can play something live for us as well.  Don't miss it!

The ease at which Wilby produces music that is both familiar and brand new; as well as incredibly catchy and addictive is a joy to experience.

From the suburbs of Philadelphia, songwriter and performer Maria Crawford has been paving her way in the Nashville independent music scene since 2014. Formerly known as the folk artist Mar, Crawford developed the new moniker "Wilby" and released a debut EP Translucent Beauty under that name in 2021.

Crawford has been writing songs for over 15 years, using her music to identify and process emotions, find a way to be heard, and foster connection.  Her songs invite listeners to explore both the shared human experience and the power of telling one's story.

Her debut album, Center of Affection, is set to release this October via Hit the North Records, with the lead double single "Pleaser"/"Spin" released in March 2025.

Who's Erin Fox?  Just a powerhouse of poetically intense lyrics, haunting harmonies, and quirky chord structures that will have you basking spaces that are completely unfamiliar, yet somehow provide the comfort of home.

During our time togehter, we'll hear how she new this was the life for her at 3 years old, and how the gigging way feels right to her.  We'll learn about her early inspirations, and how the navigated various outfits in the Philadelphia music community for nearly two decades, before stepping out and in to the spotlight to record her own music.

She's also a survivor - both of sexual assault at the hands of a music producer/manager as well as from brain cancer.  Incredible bravery and vulnerability that she will share more about these parts of her story.  So important to advocate for help and support on topics like these.

We'll explore her catalog of incredible music, exploring the topics of mental health,  grief, and encapsulating the essence and struggle to find a silver lining after a cascade of tragedies. She'll also perform live on the show!

We also hear more about the phenomenal cover songs she performs with The Rock Orchestra - including her viral video of "Zombie" that has 9M views!
