A'Laina is a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern in the state of Florida and is currently fulfilling the requirements to become a licensed clinician. She dreamt years ago of creating a safe space for women to gather and encourage one another. As a survivor of child abuse, homelessness, and depression, she has sought to bring awareness to this often-misunderstood topic. 

She received a Bachelor of Social Work from Florida A&M University and a Master of Social Work with a Clinical Concentration from Florida State University. She’s  held positions within dependency case management as well as adult services. A’laina has also worked with individuals that present with mental health, developmental delays, and substance misuse related issues. 

She has created The Therapeutic Couch which is dedicated to breaking the stigma associated with mental health within the African American community, with a focus on African American women young and old. This forum was created to explore healthy ways to address mental health concerns, provide self -care tips, and to discuss positive life styles.
