The Cross has become a symbol of Christianity, but it’s so much more than a mere trinket or piece of fashion jewelry hanging around someone’s neck. The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is such an important doctrine because understanding it correctly determines whether or not we have eternal life.

When we come to Jesus, He works deliverance; often bringing a new hope and new lease on life. But what we do with our life after being healed is also important. He desires that we become vessels of His compassion and healing power to those who are suffering.

The Lord wants us to live in a deep, intimate, and obedient relationship with Him rather than in conformity to the world around us. This means that sometimes people who are living in sin will not want to be in our company because we make them feel uncomfortable. This is inevitable because like Noah we are walking in light while those in the world are walking in darkness and want to avoid the light that exposes their sinful deeds.

According to Genesis 6, the ancient world was so filled with wickedness and evil that God was grieved He had made mankind. Therefore, He decided to destroy every living creature on earth. However, in the midst of all the corruption, Noah “found favor in the eyes of the Lord” and was rescued from the destruction of the flood (v. 8). Our world today is also filled with sin and corruption and as Christians, we are called to walk as Noah did—in the favor of God.

Mark 10:17-27 tells a story about a man who knew something was missing in his life. He ran to Jesus, knelt down before Him, and asked, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

From the moment you commit your life to Jesus Christ, you enter the school of faith because, from that point on, the Lord’s goal is to teach you to trust in Him. Therefore, in order to live effectively and grow in your relationship with Him, you must have confidence that God—the Sovereign Lord of the universe—will do exactly what He says and fulfill every single promise He’s made to you.

If you have ever contemplated “ending it all,” please get quiet, open your Bible, prayerfully listen, and learn just how much God loves you.

What kind of temptations do you regularly face? Do you have a particular weakness that makes you more vulnerable to these enticements? We’ve all experienced this, and sometimes the pull is so strong that we begin to come up with reasons why yielding isn’t so bad. However, we need to stop and consider that the voice we’re listening to is Satan’s, and what he’s offering is a path to utter destruction.

Do you focus on how much you don’t have, how much you’d like to have, what you could do to increase your income, or what you would do with more money? These are common concerns for all of us, but there’s another spiritual aspect we should consider when we think about our finances—what does God have to say about it, and what would He have us give away?
