We are back once again for episode 5 of Your Scene kickin off a mini 3 part series on the evolution of Aus HipHop. In this episode we cover the 80’s and 90’s talkin’ on the formulation of some of the most prolific artists/crews/labels and key moments in our scene. We have to say that we have done our very best on the research of this era (pre 2000’s) however we weren’t actually there so we know we have missed a lot of information, we just want to try educate as much as possible! There are some other sources for info we tell you about in this episode and if you are keen to go deeper into the history you should hit up these platforms!

In this episode we go over all things from the birth of Obese (and OB's) Records, the record store turning into a label and all the releases/rostered artists through Obese Records, the block parties, the labels Obese supported, Zenith Records, the April 77 Collective, the move and expansion, Plethora Records, and finally the slowing down of Obese to ultimately closing down.

On this weeks episode of Your Scene while we were setting up for the recording session Bilby pressed record and we just started talking about music equipment, some tech talk for all the studio heads out there. Old releases and how hard it is to get your hands on them is mentioned. We move onto a bit of an introduction with Milky, touching on his entrance into Hip Hop and where he is at with it all. Then we finish the episode off with a tiny "interview" (if we can even call it that) with Bilby talking on his debut album that just dropped, 'Bilbyography'.
