Welcome back, fellow players! Beyond the realm of board and video games, one of my greatest passions is stories and storytelling. When you step into a new story you are transported to a different world, experiencing the lives and adventures of incredible people. It brings me immense joy when given the opportunity to play through epic tales within the realm of board games, and watching characters and the world grow from play to play will never cease to bring a smile to my face. Join me today as I look at the idea of campaign games, and journey with hobbits and elves in LORD OF THE RINGS: JOURNEYS IN MIDDLE EARTH, and then try out a new mechanism I hope to see in other games, the idea of dice-building in DICE FORGE. As always, thank you for your support and for listening to each episode. I love you all.
Welcome back, fellow players! Oh wow, it has been quite a long time, but fear not for I, the nerd, have returned to you with another episode of my random thoughts and feelings about a topic of my choosing. Venture with me through two incredibly different and strange new worlds, one in which you must harness your RAGE and free the world from an oppressive faceless authority and mutants, while in the other we get to sit down and relax by THE LAST CAMPFIRE and discuss the meaning of life and find hope in dark times. The road may be bumpy and the turns may be sudden, but trust me as I discuss two video games that you might just want to check out. As always, thank you for your support and for listening to each episode. I love you all.
Welcome back, fellow players! One of the magical things about board games is their ability to transport players to different time periods, planets, and states of being. Whether you enjoy a more historically based game in which you experience an alternate 1920s Europe or some distant galaxy filled with warring factions, there are games out there to attract all types of people. Join me as I take a look at how different games use player powers to create variety and unique experiences, and dive into the worlds of SCYTHE and SHARDS OF INFINITY. As always, thank you for your support and for listening to each episode. I love you all.
Welcome back, fellow players! There comes a time in any board game day, night, or event when players are nearing full brain burn and need something to keep them engaged without sending them beyond the brink, and that is where quick and fun filler games come into play. Whether you are pushing your luck and failing terribly in CAN’T STOP or stomping around Japan to see who is the true KING OF TOKYO, these fast and exciting games can create stories and smiles that will last for ages. As always, thank you for your support and for listening to each episode. I love you all.
Welcome back, fellow players! For as long as I can remember I have loved to explore areas and see what mysteries lay just beyond my line of sight, whether that was around town, around the county, or just around the couch. But there came a time when I realized there were some places I wouldn’t be able to visit, mostly because Middle Earth and Hoth don’t exist. Fortunately the world of board games has expanded my horizons and allowed me to travel to places beyond my wildest dreams, from the lively and magical GLOOMHAVEN to the dark and creepy halls of BETRAYAL AT HOUSE ON THE HILL. Come along as I dive into the adventures that await us, and discuss how board games can lead us to marvelous locations. As always, thank you for your support and for listening to each episode. I love you all.
Welcome back, fellow players! Grab your weapons, your resources, and your building supplies, it is time to lead a civilization to success. Keep your mind sharp and your tactics ready, as we test our strategies against the invading hordes. We will raise money, balance our troops, and maybe make an alliance or two, as we ponder REAL-TIME STRATEGY video games. Join me as I delve into the wonder world of RTSs and discuss two games focused on fictional worlds and fictional wars, WARCRAFT 2:TIDES OF DARKNESS and TOTAL WAR: WARHAMMER 2. As always, thank you for your support and for listening to each episode. I love you all.
Welcome back, listeners! Have you ever been sent a text or an email and have no idea what the sender is trying to say because the person messaging you loves to write in emojis? No? Just me? Alright. Well, in the wonderful board gaming hobby we have our own set of symbols and pictographs to learn, which we tie together in the neat category of iconography. Icons are everywhere in board gaming, from cards, to the board, and to the rule book, and they are both the bane and boon to those trying to teach games. Please join me as I take a look at uses of icons in board games, and two examples of games that use icons quite a bit, MARVEL UNITED and 7 WONDERS. As always, thank you for your support and for listening to each episode. I love you all.
Welcome back, listeners! For the last twenty-nine episodes, you have listened to me talk about quite a variety of board games. I have discussed how to play these games, while also giving my overall opinion while trying to not sound too much like a reviewer. But with episode thirty I have realized I need to talk about something very important, the criteria I hold for games when it comes time to go shopping. So please join me as I discuss what I look for in new games, as well as my top five games within my collection, who knows, you might hear about a game you want to try. As always, thank you for your support and for listening to each episode. I love you all.
