Felicia Hernandez is the founder of Gorditas Way, a body liberation platform and movement for women and LGBTQ+ people of color, author of Gorditas Way: The Ways of an Unapologetic Latina, and the first woman in the country to put on a body liberation conference. Her energy is infectious, her story is powerful, and this conversation had me smiling the whole way through.
Felicia and I met at an event celebrating Latina women and I knew immediately she was someone I needed on this show. We get into her childhood, what it was like growing up in a voluptuous body, how she reclaimed the word gordita and turned it into a movement, and how Bomba, the traditional Puerto Rican dance, became part of her journey to body confidence. We also talk about her upcoming Body Liberation Conference happening September 26, 2026, the first event of its kind in the country, and why she's so fired up about it.
If you've ever been made to feel like your body was too much or not enough, Felicia's story is going to hit you right in the heart.
