Her Genius: Beyond Dieting

Your Weight Loss Journey is Figureoutable

Listen Later

In this episode of Beyond Dieting, we talk about how ridiculously smart and accomplished YOU are!!! You got through school. You got a job. Maybe you volunteer your time to help others. Maybe you have a successful relationship. Maybe you have kids you raised while juggling a bunch of other stuff.

It’s time for you to wake up to the fact that YOU have the answer to your weight loss conundrum. You are the only person who knows what foods you like, what textures, what times you like to eat, what exercises feel good or don’t feel good to you.

The idea of “figureoutable” is from Marie Forleo, who talks about it in her book Everything is Figureoutable. Making things “figureoutable” relies on your willingness to turn around a couple of beliefs that might actually (probably are) defeatist.

Marie says you need to be able to accept the following tenets in order to make everything  “figureoutable”.

  1. Agree that all problems are figureoutable
  2. Understand that if a problem is not figureoutable, it’s not really a problem, it’s a fact of life or law of nature (eg death or gravity)
  3. You may not care enough to figure this problem out or achieve this particular dream.
  4. What we teach in our programs is that you DO have what it takes if only you can learn to plug back into your higher wisdom and the instincts of your body. Years of handing over your power to diet books and diet programs have made it harder to hear your own sweet, smart voice.

We want to help you get back that connection with yourself and your inner intelligence. But first, we have learned that we have to remind you that this intelligence inside of you actually exists because many of you are probably already doubting that this is true.

This is why we also coach you in our programs to question your beliefs and thoughts about yourself and your abilities. We help you to regain hope and a fundamental confidence in yourself. When you have confidence in yourself as “the expert” on YOU, you will start to make really good decisions around food, drinking and your overall well being.

Your goal is to be healthy for many years to come. The good news is that you can learn to do this for yourself.

Our song for this week is Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield.  There are so many great lines in there.  We love the idea that your life is a blank page and you get to write the words of your life.  That no one else can ‘feel’ what’s happening in your life or ‘speak’ your life for you.  You get to figure that out for yourself.
