This is uncomfortable—but necessary.


The very things that made you successful this year may already be obsolete.

Not wrong. Not bad. Outdated.


When the calendar flips, the market won’t care about your experience, your title, or how hard you worked. And 2026 will expose everything you’ve refused to upgrade—especially if you ignored AI, digital behavior shifts, or modern leadership execution.


Years ago, I told a dealer something he didn’t want to hear:

“You’re perfectly built to compete in a market that no longer exists.”

That moment changed both of our careers.


Most leaders don’t fail because they’re lazy.

They fail because they’re successful—but outdated.


Experience gets confused with relevance.

Pressure replaces clarity.

And the most dangerous sentence in leadership shows up again:

“That’s how we’ve always done it.”


A new year won’t change you.

New goals won’t change you.

Only upgraded behaviors will.


This isn’t the end of a year—it’s the end of an operating system.

And 2026 won’t reward comfort. It will reward adaptability, clarity, and execution.


Today’s challenge:

Identify one habit, behavior, or leadership move you’re still using because it used to work—not because it works now. Write it down. Confront it. Upgrade it.


Because whatever you refuse to face in December will quietly tax you in January.

Go out today, close the year with clarity, and create some leadership fire.
