Tulpa is a concept that stems from Tibetan Buddhism. The discipline and teachings of Tulpa are spiritual, thought-provoking, and sadly not the focus of this weeks episode. Instead, we’re turning our sights on the threads at Tulpa.info, where nerds have appropriated a culture’s beliefs for their own purposes: pretending to get laid. On the site, users swap stories about how they use their mind to project their ideal partners into the real world, and the hot, steamy action that follows. Some claim to summon partners that totally find them hunky, others only summon them for adventuring and conversation, and there are even a few who manage to be turned down by their imaginary girlfriends! It’s like a kid with an imaginary friend, only way older and somehow less mature.
