  • Episode 10: Inerrancy, Paul's Bias, and Peter's Sheet

No agenda, no outline — just the conversation Bill and Jared were already having before they hit record. This wildcard episode picks up mid-argument on the doctrine of inerrancy: Bill explains why he moved away from a belief he once signed his name to, and Jared pushes back that the doctrine functions less as a truth claim than as a boundary marker for who's in and who's out.

Along the way: what "inerrant in the original autographs" actually means when no original autographs survive, the woman caught in adultery and the ending of Mark, whether the canon was decided by a council or settled organically by 125 AD, and how much Paul's Pharisaic training shaped what he wrote — influenced, biased, or tainted?

Then Bill takes a hard turn. Acts 10: Peter's vision of the sheet, the clean/unclean food laws overturned, and Peter's own leap from food to Gentiles. If Peter could extend that vision beyond what he was literally shown, could the church extend it further today — to LGBTQ believers?

Jared calls it a stretch. He also asks for a week to think about it.

Part 1 of 2. We pick it right back up next episode.

  • Epidose 9: Did This Pastor Go Too Far? A Christian Response to Violence.

A viral video of Pastor Tony Spell confronting and beating a protester has sparked fierce debate across social media.

Was this biblical self-defense… or a response that falls short of the example of Jesus?

In this episode of You’ve Heard It Said, Jared Huntsinger and Bill Huckaby wrestle with difficult questions that many Christians are asking:

    * Should Christians ever use violence?
    * What does Jesus mean by “turn the other cheek”?
    * Is there a difference between protecting yourself and protecting your family?
    * How should followers of Christ respond to threats?
    * What can we learn from Pastor Tony Spell’s controversial confrontation?

Rather than rushing to easy answers, we explore Scripture, wrestle with Jesus’ teachings, and ask what faithful discipleship looks like in a world filled with conflict.

The debate over women in ministry isn’t going away.

In this episode of You’ve Heard It Said, Jared Huntsinger and Bill Huckaby discuss the Southern Baptist Convention’s proposed constitutional amendment that would formally prohibit churches from appointing women to pastoral or elder roles.

    * Paul’s teachings in 1 Timothy and Romans
    * The role of Phoebe and other women in the early church

  • Episode 7: Was Jesus a Republican or a Democrat?

Episode 7: Was Jesus a Republican or a Democrat?

What happens when faith becomes intertwined with politics?

In this episode of You've Heard It Said, Jared and Bill tackle one of the most divisive and controversial topics facing the modern church: Christian nationalism.

Can a Christian faithfully follow Jesus without aligning with a political party? Why do so many churches seem closely connected to one side of the political aisle? And what happens when political loyalty begins to shape our understanding of faith?

    The conversation explores:

    • What Christian nationalism actually means

    • Why political viewpoints can create tension in churches

    • Whether pastors risk their careers by challenging political assumptions

    • The relationship between Christianity and American politics

    • Charlie Kirk's legacy and the debate surrounding his influence

    • Why many evangelicals align with the Republican Party

    • Whether Jesus would fit comfortably into either political party

    • The danger of elevating political figures above the mission of Christ

    • How Christians can remain committed to the Kingdom of God without becoming captive to political tribes

Jared shares personal experiences of being pressured to adopt specific political positions in ministry, while Bill argues that neither political party fully represents the teachings of Jesus.

Whether you're politically conservative, politically progressive, or somewhere in between, this episode asks a challenging question:

Have we confused the Kingdom of God with the kingdoms of this world?

  • Episode 6: Is Your Bible Perfect?

Episode 6: Is Your Bible Perfect?

What if one of the most common assumptions Christians make about the Bible isn't actually what the Bible says about itself?

In this episode, Jared and Bill tackle one of the most sensitive topics in modern evangelicalism: biblical inerrancy.

What does it mean when Christians say the Bible is "without error"? Where did that belief come from? And what happens when a pastor begins asking questions about it?

Jared shares why he believes Christians should have confidence in Scripture while also recognizing the realities of translation, transmission, and textual history. Together, Jared and Bill explore the difference between believing the Bible is inspired by God and believing every word in every modern translation is flawless.

    Along the way, they discuss:

    • What "inerrancy" actually means

    • Why the doctrine is relatively recent in church history

    • The original biblical manuscripts, and why we no longer have them

    • What "God-breathed" means in 2 Timothy 3:16

    • Translation challenges between Hebrew, Greek, and English

    • Why some pastors risk criticism simply for discussing these questions

    • Whether faith depends on having a perfect Bible

    • How Christians can trust Scripture without ignoring its complexities

This conversation isn't an attack on the Bible.

It's a conversation about how we understand the Bible, how we read it faithfully, and why asking honest questions shouldn't be considered a threat to faith.

Because sometimes the strongest faith isn't afraid of difficult questions.

  • Episode 5: Can a Pastor Talk About LGBTQ Issues Without Getting Fired?

What happens when pastors ask questions they're not supposed to ask?

In this episode of You've Heard It Said, Jared and Bill tackle one of the most controversial subjects in modern Christianity: LGBTQ issues and the church's response. Why has this topic become such a defining issue in evangelical circles? Why do some questions feel off-limits? And why can a pastor's career be put at risk simply for having the conversation?

Rather than offering easy answers, Jared and Bill explore the tension between biblical conviction, cultural change, grace, truth, and the challenge of loving real people while wrestling with difficult questions.

This is not a debate. It's an honest conversation about faith, Scripture, church culture, and what happens when asking questions becomes risky.
