Rashi says, “‘Tzav’” always denotes urging, immediately and for future generations.” This teaches that Torah and mitzvos should be fulfilled with alacrity – “being early to perform mitzvos,” and to the extent that the alacrity has an effect not only “immediately” but also “for future generations.” “Generations” means at least two, which, together with one’s own generation, forms three generations. And when it lasts for three generations, it is guaranteed to last forever, as the Gemara says regarding Torah: When it “does not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your seed, nor from the mouth of your seed’s seed” – three generations – then “the Torah returns to its lodging.” Similarly, this applies to the results of Torah, which is mitzvos. Practically speaking, this means to be involved in Mivtza Pesach, and the Mivtza of “turning the heart of the fathers back (through) the children” – with alacrity.
