לאחרונה הונהג שבמשך ג' השבועות יוסיפו בלימוד התורה בענינים הקשורים עם ביהמ"ק, בתושב"כ ובתושבע"פ, ובעיקר‏ – ‏בהל' בית הבחירה להרמב"ם שבזה ישנו העילוי דהלכות פסוקות אשר מהם באים לבניית ביהמ"ק בפועל! וכאן המקום לבאר את ה"כותרת" דהלכות אלו ברמב"ם "הלכות בית הבחירה": דלכאו' הי' מתאים יותר לקרותן "הלכות בית המקדש" ע"ש הפסוק "ועשו לי מקדש"‏ – ‏מקור הציווי לבניית ביהמ"ק! והביאור: השם "בית הבחירה" מורה על הבחירה בבית זה מבין שאר הבתים. והיינו, ששם זה מדגיש את הצורך לעסוק עם שאר הבתים שבעולם כדי לפעול בהם ענין של קדושה עד שיהיו ראויים שייאמר עליהם שביהמ"ק נבחר מביניהם! ועד"ז בנוגע לבחירת בנ"י משאר אוה"ע‏.

It has been the custom as of late to learn about the Beis Hamikdash during the three weeks, especially the Rambam’s Hilchos Beis Habechirah, which contains halachic rulings relevant to actually building the Beis Hamikdash. Seemingly, why is it called Hilchos Beis Habechirah (“Laws of the Chosen House”), and not “Hilchos Beis Hamikdash,” in accordance with the verse (the source of the obligation to build the Beis Hamikdash), “They shall make Me a Mikdash”? The answer is that “Beis Habechirah” emphasizes that Hashem chooses this house from all other houses, and that it is upon us to bring holiness into all other houses, to the point that it could be said that that the Beis Hamikdash is chosen from among them. The same applies to the choosing of the Jewish people from among the nations.
