הוראה ממ"ש בתחילת פ' בחוקותי "אם בחוקותי תלכו וגו'": המענה לשאלה כיצד תובעים הענין ד"תלכו" ‏–‏ ללכת מחיל אל חיל בתומ"צ, כשנמצאים בזמן הגלות אשר "אותותינו לא ראינו גו'" ‏–‏ הוא ממ"ש "בחוקותי תלכו" ‏–‏ "בחוקותי" הוא מלשון חקיקה: החידוש באותיות החקיקה הוא שהאותיות הם חלק מהדבר בו הם חקוקים, ולא כמו אותיות הכתיבה שהדיו והדף הם ב' דברים, והיינו, כאשר עניני תומ"צ הם חקוקים בהאדם עד שמציאותו ומציאות התורה הם דבר אחד ממש ועבודתו היא מצד עצם נפשו הנה אז לא שייך שהעדר הגילויים שבזמן הגלות יפעל בו הגבלה כל שהיא! ועוד.

The beginning of Bechukosai states, “If you advance in My decrees etc.” A person might ask: how can I be expected to advance in Torah and mitzvos “from strength to strength,” when I’m in exile, and “we have not seen our signs” etc.? The answer lies in the verse’s expression, “If you advance in My decrees” (Bechukosai), from the term engraving (chakikah): The unique quality of engraved letters is that the letters become part of the material in which they are engraved. Similarly, when Torah and mitzvos are engraved in a person to the extent that he and the Torah become literally one and the same, and his service comes from the essence of his soul – then the lack of revelation in exile cannot impose any limitations upon him.
