ברביעי דפ' כי תשא מסופר ע"ד בקשת משה "הראני נא את כבודך" ותשובת ה' "לא תוכל לראות פני.. וראית את אחורי ופני לא יראו". מסתבר לומר שה' מילא במקצת עכ"פ את בקשת משה גם בנוגע ל"פניו", והפירוש בפסוק "וראית את אחורי ופני וגו'" הוא שתיבת "ופני" קאי גם אלפניו ‏–‏ "וראית את אחורי ופני", אלא שראיית ה"פני" תהי' באופן של "לא יראו". והביאור: שלילת דבר אחד מחבירו גופא מוכיחה שישנה שייכות ביניהם שלכן צריך לשלול א"ז מחבירו, וזהו החידוש כאן בתשובת הקב"ה "ופני לא יראו" שנוצרה שייכות (באופן של שלילה) בין הידיעה (הראי') של משה גם עם "פניו" של ה' וכו'.

Revi’i of Parashas Ki Sisa discusses Moshe’s request, “Please let me see Your glory,” and Hashem’s response, “You will not be able to see My face… You will see My back, but My face will not be visible.” It stands to reason that Moshe’s request to see Hashem face was also fulfilled at least partially. That is, the verse can be read as follows: “You will see My back and My face…” (with “You will see” applying to “My face” as well), just that the vision of “My face” will be in a manner of “not visible.” Meaning: the very fact that a certain property is negated from something shows that there is some relation between them; otherwise, there would be no need to negate it. And this is the novelty in Hashem’s response “and My face will not be visible”: that a connection was created (albeit in a manner of negation) between Moshe’s perception (“seeing”) and Hashem’s face.
