תוכן שיעור חומש היומי (חמישי דפ' וישב) הוא אודות מעלתו של יוסף בהיותו במצב של ירידה בגלות בבית אדוניו המצרי, עד ש"ויהי איש מצליח", ומפרש במדרש – "גבר קפוז" (איש מקפיץ, קופץ ודולג). והענין בעבודת ה': עבודה באופן של "דילוג" (שהוא ברגל א', ורגל א' על הארץ) הוא כאשר עובד את ה' (ומוגבה מעניני ארציות) רק בקו אחד, ימין או שמאל, שאז יתכן שעבודתו היא רק מצד טבע נפשו, קו הימין או שמאל. אבל עבודה באופן של "קפיצה", שהיא באופן שב' רגליו מוגבהים מן הארץ, הוא כאשר עובד את ה' בב' הקוין, ואז יודעים שעבודתו היא מצד רצון הבורא בלבד. וזה קשור עם מ"ש בסיום השיעור "ויהי יוסף יפה תואר ויפה מראה" – שלימות במ"ע, קו הימין, ובמל"ת, קו השמאל; כאן המקום להזכיר ע"ד ה"מבצעים", החל ממבצע חנוכה, ושאר המבצעים – מבצע אהבת ואחדות ישראל, חינוך (את עצמו ואת הזולת) וכו'; עריכת חלוקת הש"ס ומגבית די"ט כסלו.

Synopsis
Today’s Chumash (Thursday of Parashas Vayeishev) discusses Yosef’s greatness in that even in exile in the house of his Egyptian master, he became a “successful man.” On this verse, the Midrash explains that Yosef was a “jumping person” – which refers to the Divine service of “jumping,” where “both feet are off the ground”: When one serves Hashem with only kindness or only restraint, it could mean that his service is motivated only by his natural inclination toward kindness (right) or restraint (left), and thus one “foot” is “on the ground” and one is not. But “jumping” means both feet are off the ground – both sides serve Hashem and are elevated above materiality. This shows that he is not motivated by his own nature, but only by the will of His Creator. And when he does so, “Yosef had handsome features and a beautiful appearance” – perfection in the positive mitzvos (the right side) as well as the negative mitzvos (the left side). This is an appropriate time to mention the importance of the Mivtzoim, starting with Mivtza Chanukah, as well as the other Mivtzoim: Ahavas and Achdus Yisrael, Chinuch etc.
