בשיעור רביעי דפ' יתרו, שמתחיל ב"בחודש השלישי גו' ביום הזה באו מדבר סיני . . ויחן שם ישראל נגד ההר", "ויחן" לשון יחיד – "כאיש אחד בלב אחד", ומסתיים ב"אלה הדברים אשר תדבר אל בני ישראל" וכפרש"י "לא פחות ולא יותר" – ב' קצוות: הענין ד"לא פחות ולא יותר" הוא צמצום בתכלית, וביחד עם זה דוקא אחדותם של ששים רבוא דבנ"י, ריבוי בתכלית השלימות, "כאיש אחד בלב אחד", היתה ההכנה ונעשו עי"ז ראויים לקבלת התורה; ביאור הענין ד"ביום הזה": כמבואר החילוק שבין שאר הנביאים שנתנבאו ב"כה", שראו רק את ה"דמות", למשה שנתנבא ב"זה" – ראיית הדבר ממש [ומה שמשה אמר "כה אמר ה' כחצות הלילה וגו'" הוא כי מה שאמר לפרעה ("כחצות הלילה") לא הי' דברי ה' ("בחצות הלילה") ממש], וזהו מה שלעת"ל "כל אחד מראה באצבעו שנאמר ואמר ביום ההוא הנה אלקינו זה וגו'". וזהו שהתורה היא בחי' "זה", כי ע"י לימוד התורה ש"אורייתא וקוב"ה כולא חד" – "אותי אתם לוקחים".

Revi’i of Parashas Yisro begins with the verse, “In the third month...on this day they came to the Sinai desert...Israel camped there facing the mountain,” with the word “camped” in the singular – “like one man with one heart.” And it concludes with “These are the words that you must speak to the Jewish people…” as Rashi explains, “no more and no less.” This conveys two extremes: the concept of “no more and no less” signifies the ultimate tzimtzum and limitation, and at the same time, it is specifically the unity of the 600,000 Jews, the ultimate multitude united “like one man with one heart,” that made the giving of the Torah possible. Regarding the concept of “on this day”: The difference between Moshe and all other prophets is that the prophets prophesied using the term “So” (Koh), because they saw only an image, whereas Moshe, who prophesied with the term “This” (Zeh) – had a direct vision of the matter itself. (When Moshe said “So said Hashem: About midnight...” – that’s because what he said to Pharaoh – “about midnight” – was not Hashem’s exact words, as Hashem had said “at midnight” precisely.) This is also why in the future era, “Every individual will point with their finger as it says, ‘And it shall be said on that day: Behold, this is our G-d….” And the Torah itself is on the level of “This,” because through studying Torah, which is “entirely one” with Hashem, one connects with Hashem – “It is Me that you are taking.”
